Well I am almost 30. I started finasteride almost 4 months ago and had to drop down to .5mg because of sides. I also take various supplements. I think I may be ready for the dreaded buzz cut.

second pic from a few days ago. Wet and you can see how it is spreading back down the center too. I am losing alot of ground. Let me hear it guys. This is bad.

I don't know if anything can help this. Not even the mighty Rogaine.

I second that.

You're not fooling anyone with your hair that long. Buzzing is the only way to go... it'll look a lot better.

and stop scrunching your forehead or you'll get ugly forehead lines like me, f*** i swear that is the only facial expression i know. training yourself to not make certain habitual expressions is hard stuff!

Well with my current haircut I am not trying to fool anyone. I know I am balding bad but what can you do about it. I cannot hide under a hat all the time. I plan on buzzing it in June when I go on vacation so it gives me a week to get used to it and get some sun on my head to better contrast it. As far as scrunching my forehead, I just noticed a few weeks ago I did it. Who cares really. I am learning that going bald is alot harder for me to overcome than the people around me. They seem to care less. Woman are even still checking me out a little. So screw the people that don't find me attractive this way. Some women do...Once we accept that we are human and not perfect and not the only ones going through this the better off you will be. I just keep my body in shape.

Thanks for the replies though.

hard to tell from the two photos but do you feel that your hair deterioration has picked up speed in the 4 months since starting finasteride?

I suffered a large shed right before starting and it seems the front has thinned even more since but it is hard to say. I am going togive finasteride a year and then update. One thing I thought it helped was the itching but that started again a few weeks ago. I know I lowered the dose but from some postings I thought .5mg would block just as much as 1.25mg. I guess that is not the case.

Who knows what effect minoxidil will have on his hair? It may even give him the coverage that he needs to make a huge difference cosmetically. I say hit your hair with as much as you can afford for a year and see what results you get
