Guys - L'Oreal vive for men with Regenium XY is the bomb

You know how I do it, Nizoral 3 days a week and Nano 4. Well, I think I might be dumping my Nano and using this 4 days a week instead. I bought it awhile ago and never used it. Well last night, before going out, I decided to try this shampoo. I left it in for 45 seconds and rinsed it out.

When I dried my hair and combed it out, it looked so freakin thick, especially in front where I have lower density. I was seriously stunned. I thought all these thickening shampoos were BS. I know that this is just a cosmetic thing and not a permanent benefit, like I have to use the shampoo at least 2 or 3 times a week to keep it looking thick, but damn. It seriously looked at least 50% thicker. Not a joke.

I think all you guys should try this at least one and tell me what you think. It comes in like 13 oz bottle at Wal-Mart and it costs 5 dollars. Again, it doesn't regrow hair, it just makes it look thicker and fuller and cosmetically nicer. But it's worth it baby, it's worth it.

good point. I could have sworn I posted it in there but I guess I clicked the wrong window. Anyway, fixed.

you ever used this shampoo though cassin?

Found this from askmen.com:

'If your hair looks flat and thin, there is a new line from L'Oreal that you might want to try out: it's called "VIVE For Men." It features a Daily Thickening Shampoo, a practical 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner, a Thickening Grooming Foam and Gel, and more. The product line features Regenium XY, an advanced polymer that actually thickens and texturizes hair for more efficient scalp coverage, delivering up to 50% thicker looking hair and better styling control.

I guess it is the Regenium XY that makes it look thicker. All i know is now I can spike it up in front and not have it look super thin.

Let me list my favorites in order

Aveda Pure abundance (expensive stuff)
diametress volumizer
Tigi thickening shampoo
Big and sexy (lol)

And a bunch more I can't remember. One thing I have noticed, the cheaper the shampoo the more it dries the hair eventually so make sure you always use some conditioner here and there to keep it from making your scalp itch.

Never tried L'Oreal but I want to. I spend too much on hair products and it would be nice to not buy $20 bottles for once.

I used to use it when I had some serious follicular challengement , I didn't know if it worked or not.

Then I got hair transplants, and 7 months later, my hair was looking okay, still not great. And so I went into a research study (my new line of work) and they won't allow medicated shampoos, and I was too lazy to pour my medicated shampoos into a differnet bottle, so I just grabbed my Vive shampoo whihc had been sitting on the shelf for months and months. And wow, I was impressed! I looked like I had a full head of hair, and I hadn't spent more than a few seconds styling my hair.

All that being said, I haven't used it since. I'd rather use the shampoos to grow ahir, instead of using concealer shampoos. I'll probably use it again though, maybe often, but right now I'm focusing on growing hair, not looking like I have it.

hey cassin,

the one i'm using comes in with a built in conditioner. if i'm using this 4 days a week and nizoral on the other 3 followed by some Redken conditioner on the nizoral days, that should be good, right?

FC,

I am trying to regrow with dutasteride as well but it never hurts to use a shampoo that makes it look thicker, right? i mean i dont think nano is doing jack for me so if i'm going to replace it, seeing as i cant really use nizoral every day, i might as well use a thickening shampoo 4 days a week.

Yeah that should be fine. The stuff I use is separate. Nothing like waking out of a store for women and having just spent almost $50 on shampoo and conditioner.

No I think there fine, most companies don't do it so they can milk us for more cash.

Too be honest, if Aveda charged 100$ per bottle I still might buy it. Sadly.

you're saying that you think using the Aveda 4 times a week would make my hair look even thicker than the Vive does? If so I might buy a bottle and compare the two.

Yeah, I don't think NANO is doing jack for me either. I was using pretty steadily for a good period of time too. Now, EOD. Soon, not at all.

"In Revita I trust" lol

do you really think revita is going to be better than plain nizoral? first off, it contains 1% keto and not 2% right, just to mkae sure i have my info right? secondly, it contains cool sh*t like apple poly and copper peptides but how do we know these things can even be absorbed into the scalp in the two or three minutes that it's left on before being rinsed? what i'm asking is, how do we know it won't just be a more expensive, trumped up version of nizoral?

Well I'm going to be using it 5 times a week, like they suggest, so I won't mind that it's 1%. When I used 2% that frequently it dried my hair out a lot. It says 2% on the website, but I'm guessing that's wrong? They *really* have to update their website, it makes them look unprofessional.

Regarding the absorption of the non-ketoconazole products, the way I see it, if we think ketoconazole can absorb into the scalp in the 5 minutes we say to give it, and not be rinsed out of your scalp with a little splash of water to de-gunk your hair, why couldn't the other ingredients in Revita act the same way?

L'Oreal Vive Thin to Thick is my favorite of the four shampoos I have.

I'll try the Aveeda if Cassin could post a link to the one he likes, and then compare.

thanks cassin. do we have to use the aveda conditioner along with it? do you?

and do you use this aveda every day?

do you think using it 4 days a week is enough to get most of the benefits of it? I see that the bottle is 8.5 ounces so that's 51 teaspoons. If I'm using it 4 days a week then I'd probably use 4 bottles a year.

Do you think a teaspoon of it is enough to get the effects? And wow that 33.8 ounce one on the website is a good deal haha. That's basically 40 bucks for a year's supply for me. Can't beat that right?

Thanks.

1. Yes I use conditioner but I use 1 bottle of conditioner for every 2 bottles of shampoo

2. Everyday, no. I use it 3 or 4 times a week. Sometimes less sometimes more.

3. Yes, using it only a few days a week is fine since thats what I do I have found it too be perfectly fine.

Also, make sure it sits on your scalp for a few minutes to get the full effect. It doesn't take very much shampoo to really get a good lather going but the conditioner doesn't spread very well. I put some in my hair then I put my head under the shower head real fast to get some more water on it then I work it in some more. I only use the conditioner about twice a week.
