Gyno Concerns

I've been taking 1/5 Proscar daily for about 20 months with no apparent side effects. However, I was lying on the floor the other day and my g/f made a throwaway comment about me developing boobs! I'd never thought about gyno but now I'm going paranoid. She said she was only joking but it got me thinking. A little background:

I'm a naturally skinny guy - 6ft 4in and weigh about 170lbs. About 18 months ago I hit the gym pretty hard and started to work on my upper body, in particular chest and back and got some good results (but still skinny). I thought I was developing decent pecs (for a skinny dude). Anyway, life got in the way, I started my career in law and I ran out of time for the gym and haven't been since September (although I am planning on rejoining when I find a good, proximate one in London).

My chest is still there although a little more flabby. Looking closely at my chest though it is difficult to determine whether I have the beginning stages of gyno as my left pec looks a bit like a small boob now that I think of it.

I have not had any tit pain, itchy nipples etc. that I can remember over this 20 month period but I'm concerned that gyno might have sneaked up on me. If I feel around my chest, I pinch some harder stuff but I figure this could be muscle. So, a couple of questions:

1. How can I tell the difference bewteen muscle and glandual development in the chest (bear in mind I'm still skinny and not muscular really at all).

2. If I am concerned, should I see my Doctor and ask for a blood work up (what would I say about my proscar-taking? I don't have a script for it)?

3. Should I cut my dosage?

4. If it is gyno, I want to get off the finasteride obviously. What would be the best way to do this - down in stages or cold turkey?

5. If it is gyno and I stop taking finasteride, will the gyno continue to develop or will I just be left with what I have (which, at the moment, looks like slightly flabby pecs or pecs with a think layer of fat over the top)?

And can I just say that this is such a helpful site. I don't post here often but this place is an invaluable source of info. I love you guys :)

1. If you get gynecomastia, you'll know about it, don't worry!

... no mistaking those for a bit of flab now, is there ;)

2. Again, it'll be obvious if you get tits...

3. No. Unless you really want to lose your hair because of imagined side-effects.

4. You've not got gyno.

5. Ditto.

Hope that helps you dude, carry on taking the pills and stop worrying :p

When I got pubertal gyno, I got very severe sensitivity and pain my nipples. I mean it was the sort of thing where if my friend accidentally brushed my chest, I would feel a piercing pain that would last a minute to two minutes.

I don't think I have puffy or sticky out nips *touch wood* but I have been noticing some tit itching and chest pain in my left hand side recently and wondering if this could be attributed to gyno?

Bear in mind that I did not notice any itchiness/ pain in that region over the past 20 months...

P.S. I hve never had good results from taking finasteride. My hair has gradually degraded since I started 20 months ago...

gyno

I have done a lot of reading on Gyno and finastride and it does seem to have the side effect of Gyno.

I have mild Gyno myself, and it doesn't mean you have to have massive man boobs! I just have lumps under each nipple which hurt from time to time, basically all men have breast tissue under nipple as a woman would and its the estrogen that can make it grow.

I am looking for alternatives to Finastride for this reason, although no luck as yet.
