Gyno/sore nipples - how long before it's too late?

Apologies as I posted some of this in the "My Story" section but as this relates to finasteride, I'm posting it again in here. On finasteride for 1 month now (normal 1mg), and this week noticed sore nipples. No other sides until now.

Have also noticed some lumpyness there (harder fat), some of what looks like it's in the shape of a breast (circular area around my nipples). I'm overweight so to be honest I don't know if these were there before and I am being paranoid, or it's something new. I do have similar lumpier parts on my abdomen and love handles (benign fatty cysts I suppose). It's hard to tell what's normal fat and what's not, I really wish I'd taken a good look at myself before starting the finasteride so I'd know for sure.

I'll also add that I've experienced similar sore nipples in the past from exercising (where the t-shirt would brush against them for a long period).

I want to give it another month to see if the soreness goes away (as I've read it does for some people), but if I'm definitely getting breast tissue I'll go 0.5mg and then stop if things don't improve. I guess as a last ditch I'll try rogaine and then just say goodbye to my hair and possibly any chance I'll ever have of finding a partner.

My biggest nightmare is that I end up with permanently bigger breasts even after I stop, as well as my rapidly thinning hair.

Anyway, I just wanted to know how common this is any if anyone can share their experiences, and how long I can keep "trialling" finasteride without a reasonable risk of doing permanent damage?

I've been on Fincar for about a month and I'm afraid of developing gynomastia too. I'm having aches and stabbing pains in my chest area. Then again I'm sick too, so I really hope that's why. Also judging my breasts visually, they haven't changed I'd say.

I'm going to go off it, cold turkey. It's only been 3 weeks. It's too scary a prospect to think I'm going to give myself permanent gyno. I hope I haven't done my hair any damage (ie. sped up the thinning). I may start again at 0.5 mg once I've lost weight and can more easily tell what's normal tissue and what's not.

Incidentally, I buzzed my head. I looked at it for the first time with a big mirror from above. I wouldn't have more than a NW1, which was probably a NW0 (if such a thing existed) 6 months ago. The hair looks okay after buzzing, I suspect because the miniturised hairs which don't get that long are visible along with the less miniturised ones. I think I may have some sort of all over diffuse thinning, which means I am probably stuffed. I've seen guys with this in their 40s, where they still have a full covering of hair over their vertex, but it's very thin. It looks quite a lot like what a lot of older women get, where their hair is very thin on the sides and top, and even on the back but less so. I'll go get my hair properly analysed for miniturisation I think, at least then I'll know for sure what my prospects are without medication and what might help.

I've definitely got noticeable gyno from only 3 weeks on finasteride. What the hell? I am stopping immediately and praying it goes away.

Just my luck... FFS. I've got a horrible feeling it won't.

Yes its Gyno.

The Gyno is being sustained by prolactin and Estradiol, which gets increased when you're on finasteride.

I was told by an MD recently that the gyno will go away on it's
own without stopping finasteride. Your system adjusts to the finasteride and takes
care of the hormonal imbalance. See the thread All about oral spironolactone.
