Hair coming through the lace when cleaning

I recently had a lace/poly hybrid and every time I would clean it, tons of hairs would pull through the lace. It ended up thinning the system a bit and I had to get a new one. I'd really like to avoid this when I start cleaning the one I have now (full lace).

My cleaning method is I use dry cotton balls to catch the glue and then rub the glue off with my finger. Once I've got most of it off, I put some IPA on a cotton ball and try to remove whatever sticky residue is left over. Then I wash the system with water and shampoo. I've tried a couple different kinds of white bonds and clear bonds and both have the same issue.

Same problem. The less scrubbing the less this thing happens. Maybe mirror slide prevents it? Or try to get more of it off by dissolving?

I think it’s just genuinely an issue with lace systems that is hard to avoid.

I try my best to make sure it doesn’t happen by using enough isopropyl alcohol so that the tape comes off easily without pulling hairs through and also always ensuring to wash the system base side up, yet I find hairs seem to just randomly pull through to other side.

inonly use a tape perimeter bond and somehow even in the centre where there is no bond, hair pulls through

I haven't experienced this enough to cause a problem such as thinning... how often are you cleaning your system? My lace/poly hybrid would lose some hairs through the lace, coming through the bottom side, but never enough to cause an issue. I clean my system once a week, sometimes once every two weeks however. I do not use glue, which is probably how I get away with not having to clean it so often. I just re-wet and restyle every couple days.

Where do you get your systems from? I always find shedding to be an issue with lace in general. Maybe it’s poor quality unit

No noticeable shedding with the full French lace base stock system I bought from SuperHairPieces.

Unlike the previous hybrid(French lace centre and poly perimeter) custom from HairHub that was shedding like mad when washed.

How long you had the unit so far?

Where do you find most hairs pull through? Around the tape or the glue or random areas in the middle?

If tape then you need to use a lot more alcohol when removing the tape as I have a full lace unit and other than the odd hair, here and there, it doesn't really happen.

If it's the glue part then I've found using too much glue and leaving it too long makes the clean-up messy and hair pull through. It's better to re-do the front regularly than leave it too long IMO. Also if you use super strength glue designed for two week holds then the clean-up is a b****. I use quite a weak glue which holds for a week with a touchup needed midweek. When re-doing the front weekly, I dab the lace with cotton wool then spray alcohol on the cotton wool in an attempt to loosen the glue. I have to do this a few times and it eventually comes off. I then very carefully spray C-22 along the front edge to really try and get all the glue out and rinse the front very carefully in the shower with lots of shampoo. It was a bit tough initially with the unit on but I'm getting pretty good at it now and doesn't take long. When I do a regroom I just dissolve all the glue in solvent so this isn't really an issue. Rapid release works a charm.

If it's in a random area then something you are putting there is obviously causing the hair to stick to it. Maybe try no scalp protector in that area.

Google 'the hair replacement stylist'. His lace is kind of like French but a little different. It's not swiss which I first thought it was. My first system I had this issue a lot but was a lot of learning and I made TONS of mistakes. This new one is all good.

I use mity tite. Weak(er) version of UltraHold.

Although my new system is only 6 weeks old so hard to say still if what I'm doing is working but it looks good currently and I haven't noticed any shedding. Give me a few months and I'll def let you know.

Like 1 month. HairHub is shite.
Had SuperHairPieces hair system for about 4 months now.

Yes that is a poor quality unit or you're cleaning it wrong.

I'd only clean and wash a lace base, base side up when it's not on my head.
And I don't submerge it either.
If I need to shampoo, etc a lace base not on my head.
Base side up held under running luke warm water.

I mostly only need to rub cotton wool around the perimeter as I use all tapes.
Sometimes I use a bit of surgical spirit to dissolve the residue, if any.

Removing tape off full lace is easy. Much less hassle than off poly.

Spray enough lace release through the hair side of the base and the tape stays on your scalp instead.
Then can be as vigorous as you like getting it off your scalp.
Usually lace release and surgical spirit to clean up any residue after works well for me. Before shampooing my head.

Cleaning lace I use cotton wool balls put on and picked off. Sometimes so extra lace release sprayed on.
Clean up any residue with surgical spirit, then shampoo and conditioner it.

I hate C22 solvent it STINKS,sets off my asthma(unless I wear a respirator mask) and leaves oily residue of its own that's a pain to clean.

Wow I’d love to get 4 months out of a full lace unit. I get mine from Lavivid and get max 3 months.

my bonding method is similar to yours I use a full tape perimeter, use isopropyl alcohol to detach so the tape stays on my scalp and unit comes off easily with minimal residue.

do you ever use knot sealer? Currently experimenting with this to help reduce shedding

also I heard it’s best to avoid conditioner getting on the lace base as it lubricates the knots and loosens them.. so what’s the best way to actually condition the hair without it getting on the base?
