what are some of the steps people take before or during hair cut to ensure they get the right cut. I know i have to keep an eye on my barber every step of the way cause he has a very nasty habit of going extremly short on the front (probably because of my receding hairline) when i ask him not to a million times. anyone share the same experience.

It does help to have a regular barber - someone who gets to know you and what you want over time.

I've been going to this same old guy for a few years now - and if anything, he doesn't take enough off :)

versus "Hair Cuttery" (this chain by me). I'd go in there, give the exact same instructions to whoever was about to cut my hair - but always ended up leaving with THEIR haircut - not what I really wanted. And my instructions were very simple "all I want is 1/8 inch taken off all the way around".

They never got it right.

Not to generalize or anything - but gay guys always give the best cuts. They just seem to care more.

time to look for a gay hair dresser!!...haha

nah in all seriousness it does help to find someone and stick with them...they get to know your head and are able to cut it consistently every time.

Ive been goin to the same guy for prob 2-3 years now...

I'm also convinced that gay stylists care more about the hair style you want. there was a gay stylist cutting someones hair in the chair next to mine and he must of asked the person a million questions on how they wanted thier hair trimmed and styled. guess ill just hope into his chair next time i visit the salon.

It helps to live in a more urban environment also. During all my years in the city - gays stylists were the norm. Now that I'm living in a more rural environment - when guys aren't cuttin' my hair they're out fishing or hunting or traveling around in their winnebego.

A hair stylist chain that specialised in hair cuts and hair care for men with male pattern baldness would rake in the cash. Stocking all the right products, Cu peptides, minoxidil, finasteride (with an in house Dr) etc and most importantly, hair dressers who know how to make the best out of thinning hair!

A similar thread has opened up at the other place - and one of the regulars over there highly recommends the "Flowbee". He loves it. I might get one just to stay out of the barber's chair. (I got a real butcher job Friday after work :-( So much for my regular, redneck, fisherman of a barber - that A-hole.

next time i get a hair cut im gonna ask my stylist to just cut it dry. it seems to me when thinning hair is wet it just makes it alot more thin and harder to visual cut, espcially my thin thin hair plus i hate it when they rub my friggin hair; A-HOLE IM GOING BALD I DONT NEED YOU RUBBING MY HAIR LIKE IT's SOME MISTAKE ON A PAPER AND YOUR THE PENCIL ERASER making seem thinner and thinner. sorry for the excessive swearing just needed to vent.
