Hair fibre safety

Hi there,

I'm a long time user of fibre concealers since around 2008 when Toppik first came on the market and I've transitioned to Nanogen then finally Ecobell (it's much cheaper and they do refills). I've happy with the way the products work and use them every day.

My issue is slightly separate to how well they work! I have always noticed that the fibres get everywhere especially if you apply them around anything white like in a bathroom and even up one's nose, and the problem only increases as you need to apply more and more with time or if your hair gets long. I've been applying them in my bedroom (carpeted) for the last few years as I dress there and it makes sense. However In the last 6 months, I and my partner have developed an allergy which is at its worst in the house, but particularly in the morning and when we go to bed. I'm working from home today in the bedroom and have literally sneezed about 700 times already this morning, and it looks like I have a severe cold, however If I go out of the house, 10 minutes later it has completely cleared up. This timeline mentioned above correlates almost exactly to my starting to use Ecobell fibres, and having ruled out dust, Air fresheners, plants and bedding mites, I think it is that. I do not suffer from Hayfever at all and am not known to be allergic to any other substances. We vacuum nearly every day using a Dyson DC19T2 animal.

Has anybody else suffered similar symptoms? I do worry about the effects of breathing in these fibres on a daily basis, but allergies are something I never really thought about, as whenthey are on my hair and sprayed in place I'm fine.

Cheers,
Rob

why don't you try stopping using fibres all together for a few weeks and see if the problems stop, then you can rule it out. I don't think the fibres are dangerous

how would you compare Nanogen and Toppik? I've used Nano and am about to start Toppik to see if it's any better.

Where do you buy this Ecobell from? I haven't heard of them - but I'm always open to trying new brands. Unless it's the Ecobell that causes the allergy, I'm allergic to tons of things.
