Hello, i'm Michael i come from poland and i'm 25 years old. Hair loss started two or three years ago. At the beginning, the doctor told me to wash my hair with Pirolam shampoo every day and take zinc, selenium, biotin and vitamin D. But that didn't help. I would like to ask if there is still hope for any regrowth and what is the scale.

Thanks in advance for your help and answer.

Greetings

You have caught it just in time in my opinion. It's barely visible and although regrowth is usually rare, people with slight baldness in the crown do often recover completely.

Start Rogaine 2 percent in the pink OTC bottle and consider starting finasteride. Also Keto 2 percent and Selsun Blue Medicated will help with any accompanying inflammation, acne, dermatitis and dandruff.

Thank you for your answer, what about the hair that falls out while taking these medications?

Using two percent instead of five percent should help with minimizing shedding. Most guys make a mistake by starting out on five percent and it is too strong at first so the person sheds. In the U.S. two percent says for women, but it's not. It's the same med. When I first started balding all we had was two percent and I don't remember anyone blaming minoxidil for sheds but we didn't have forums like this so, I can't be sure.

The two dandruff shampoos will help minimize inflammation which one, can exacerbate male pattern baldness and two, regrowth can actually cause inflammation as well as it slightly stresses the hair system. Finasteride works great for maintenance and for people like you who are not very bald in the crown, both finasteride and min can restore hair in the crown. finasteride has sides for some people so read up on those for you but I can't even tell that I am on a similar med now, duta or finasteride before. I felt exactly the same and I had no issues with copulation.

Here's an excellent article explaining why you shouldn't halt therapy during sheds and about the anti-inflammatory powers of medicated dandruff shampoos.

Best,
Janey

No surprise there, another Dr that has no clue about hair loss, start finasteride to maintain what you have and maybe try minoxidil to try and regrow the crown hair.

And can I also count on hair regrowth with finasteride or do I have to use minoxidil? Because I saw a nice effect in other stories after the finasteride itself.

That's bit like belt and suspenders so it depends upon your finances, the hassle factor and your risk aversion. Most anyone one here who isn't subject to sides by them would opt to begin minoxidil and finasteride together. If you screw this up then your only choices are a transplant or trying more extreme meds like HRT and possibly oral minoxidil.

How often and how much do I have to take this minoxidil?
Well. There are different brands and strengths. Most of them are fairly affordable now, unlike when they came out. But I started minoxidil in 1989 and I am still on it and probably will be for life, just in case. Kirkland topical min and other generics are like six bucks a month and the recommendation is that each bottle last a month. Veterans know that you can apply it just once a day instead of twice and short breaks won't hurt especially if you are on another med too.

Some guys claim on Tressless that if you try minoxidil and then stop, then it will make you much balder in the long-run than if you had never used minoxidil at all. This is simply not true. The other thing that is stupid is that some people try to categorize different hair on their head as being either minoxidil-dependent or finasteride-dependent but what if you use both? It's much more complicated than that except to say that if you desist either or both, hair loss might occur rapidly and so quickly that these guys think it is med-dependence but probably it has to do with being older and having immediately far higher DHT levels all at once. The first time around DHT levels go up gradually but if you stop finasteride, your levels will sky-rocket fairly soon, with dutasteride, it has a longer half-life but still, you might fall off a cliff into massive hair loss. So yes, these meds are for until you don't have any teeth and look so old that you don't care about hair anymore. For me, I expect that sentiment to happen at about the age of 110.

That does look like male pattern baldness, you ideally need The BIG3.

I was using minoxidil 2% but I got scared when I started shedding my hair. Is it normal? How long can this take?

It's a positive sign when treatments make you shed. Wait it out and you'll reap the rewards. It's one of my pet peeves when I read about someone starting a treatment and quits because they started to shed.

Me, I'm 37. I have no photographs as I think my hair changes all the time depending on haircuts etc. I just know my crown has filled in because I can feel more hair back there and when I look on Telogen Effluvium mirror the thinness is harder to detect. It took about 6 months to start working and peaked about 1 year. It has been a slow decline since then but still well above baseline over 8 years later which is a success in my book. Ok I dont have a 16 year olds crown anymore but I dont feel as if I will have a bald spot anytime soon either. As for shedding I always shed alot of hair. I shed loads all the time but it grows back obviously or I'd be bald. I think too much focus is put on shedding. Unless your hair is comming out in handfuls. I would estimate I shed over 100 hairs every day easily. Also if I dont wash my hair for a few days then brush it out youd think I was shedding hundreds a day but it's just the usual sheds adding up.
