It is not completely immune. Look at high Norwood cases, it can also thin on the back and sides.

And if I get my donor area harvested, in the back of my head, will there never be hair again in the back? Since my hair grafts will be taken out.

Yes, a good Dr will identify the best areas.

Look at older family members or older men in generally. Even most of those with a full head of hair into their 60's exhibit some thinning eventually. So someone who loses early could potentially really thin on the sides and back. The fact is no matter how hard one tries there is no way to achieve great youthful density and no way to maintain it long into life. Eventually it will all be fine not as coarse more Wispy. Just the way it is. Many with transplants can look great later in life but you will be using products to give it a fuller look....
