I just started Avodart today. I will take two 0.5mg a day for 10 days then back down to 1 pill a day.

Is there any immediate effects I should be aware of?

I developed a scratchy throat and stuffy sinuses today. Don't know if it is related but it feels that way.

two avodarts a day is overkill mate even as a loading dose. id save some money and just take one. its not gonna make any difference.

I'm hoping that the throat problem and the Avodart are coincidence. I think it would be a very unusual side effect but I want to get some opinions. It is more like post-nasal drip irritation than a cold or flu.

I saw a graph showing that 1.5mg/day dutasteride for 10 days gets the serum DHT reduced close to 90% and I decided to go with 1mg/day. I don't necessarily agree with the assumptions made in the graph that increasing the drug causes a direct change in the exponential reduction of DHT, but I figured it couldn't hurt.

dont blame your sinuses on avodart. and dont do a loading dose. dht is down significantly after only a couple dutasteride capsules.

Jayman, do you think that there is any benefit with replacing my Finasteride pill twice per week with dutasteride. Do you think that this would increase the effectiveness of my regimen?

The reason I am doing this is because I do not have 100% faith that the dutasteride is real since I got it online.

of course it would increase the effectiveness if you took dutasteride twice per week. i think taking the finasteride is a good backup if you are unsure of the authenticity of your drugs. so i'd take dutasteride 2 days a week and finasteride the other 5. if you want more benefit I would take the dutasteride 3 days a week, like every Monday Wednesday Friday, and take finasteride Tuesday, Thursday, Sat and Sun. What do you think?

yeah. easier to keep it to 3 set days a week like Mon Weds Fri so you get into a pattern. the dutasteride is most likely real and it will give great inhibition of type II DHT even at only 3 times a week. Probably about 95% inhibition of type II. 5 mg of Proscar EVERY DAY only gives 90% inhibition. I of course take Avodart every day so I get 98.5% inhibition of type II and an incredibly long half-life for this dose so if I miss a day or three it will have no affect on my hair.
