Hi, I am using minoxidil since 5 years and finasteride on 1mg/ED since 3 months and 3 weeks.

I have problems with my front hair. Already before starting with finasteride. Since 5 weeks it is terrible thining. Density is getting lower and the hair shafts continue to miniaturize very fast. my hair is getting shorter and shorter, than it falls out and only a nearly unvisible little hair grows out but than disappears.

I am only using minoxidil at the top and it is at least moderate itching after applying it. Maybe its too soon to say whether finasteride is working or not, but maybe minoxidil is actually worsening my front line?

Maybe 1mg finasteride is not enough and I should switch to 1.25mg. Because I read ones, that somebody just started to notice hairloss stop after switching to 1.25mg finasteride.

3 months isn't enough time. wait a year

1.And there is 100% no chance that minoxidil is doing me now harm after years of succes? I suppose, the itching after applying it is due to the alcohol and is not bad for the hair. but it seems, like only hair where I apply minoxidil is thinning and receeding.

2. If finasteride startet to work, will my front hairline , that very thin, miniaturize and nearly invisible (which 2 months ago was thick and 4cm long) starting to grow again?
Cause I thought, that 85%-90% of finasteride useres are maintaining. it would mean, that I will get my status from september 2018 back which would be great.

Minoxidil won't be doing you harm. The reason it's falling out at those sites is because they're the sites of your hair loss and minoxidil doesn't prevent loss but encourage growth. i assume you applied minoxidil to those areas because they were the sites of loss pre minoxidil.
get on nizoral if you have an itchy scalp.

it completely depends on your response to the drug. It has a very high chance of at the very least maintaining your hair (90+%) and If you want an even better anti androgen, go for dutasteride.

The alcohol in minoxidil does make this sites itching. it ceases after 30min-1,5h. For the whole scalp I am now using 2% ket every 3 days since 1 week. The rest of my scalp is not itching. So if I would not apply minoxidil, there would be no itch at all.

If you stopped minoxidil you'd shed a lot more hair than you are now.
Are you using foam or liquid? the foam might be a bit gentler on your scalp
check with a dermatologist

liquid. But i heard it is better than foam. If the liquid does not cause me any harm to my hairs (Only itching) I will stick with it.
