Avodart (dutasteride) or Propecia/Proscar (finasteride) would be good to add to your regimen.

dutasteride has not been proven to grow hair on smooth temples. But many people assume it is a good starting point. if you want to regrow a lot of hair, minoxidil and SODs are your best bet. Go to http://www.drproctor.com and get prox-N and apply 5 drops below your hairline or on your hair line twice a day. If you can afford it, proxiphen is better. Don't expect to regrow your hair by the time you get in the army. maybe your peach fuzz will blend with the short hair, but that is all you can hope for in 6 months.

As for the dutasteride, if you do go that route, do 2-3 times per week. I would take one per day for the first week just to guarantee the low half life at low doses does not leave you unprotected before you reach steady state.

no, I don't think you do, unless you want the extra bother for the 5%. The problem is proxiphen is a 25mL cream vial and there really is only enough for the hairline at $100 a pop. If applying to smooth skin, you can get more than a month out of it. Maybe 4-5 months in my case. But when you try to get more, your costs will go up. There is a liquid that is 60mL, but even at twice a day it is not as strong as the cream. It is for people with diffuse thinning. It has the volume of prox-N for a 50% higher price, so I guess it is worthwhile to people who can afford it. I'm just using prox-N and NANO shampoo on my thin areas. And Rogaine too. If SODs are strong enough, I'll try to wean myself off minoxidil, starting by reducing my dose from 5% gradually down to 2% and then to once a day with a higher percent and lowering the percentage again.

Rogaine is good for lengthening and thickening hair fast, but ultimately I want the SODs to actually repair it so I can take a week off if I want and have one less topical.
