I've always had thin hair but now at 47 i've noticed my hair thinning out a lot quicker, especially in the last 2 years. I'm losing all hope as I've been using 5% minoxidil for over 2 years and taking .25mg finasteride daily for almost 1.5 years with no results. During that time i lost hair. I tried derma rolling for 6 months using 1.5mm once/week but gave up because of no results. I've read a lot of good things about derma pens so i recently purchased one and used it twice so far (every 2 weeks at 2mm). It's quite painful but i want to give this a shot and try to do this until the end of the year and see if i get any results.

i wanted to know if anyone out there has had any success microneedling while using 5% minoxidil. This is my last resort. I just want to give up and shave my head but i had 2 hair transplant's in the past and have those hideous scars wrapping around my head. I feel like i just can't win here even when i want to give up.

any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Just keep at it. It takes time but don't expect too much at your age. It's much harder to fight age related thinning and male pattern baldness at the same time. Have you considered getting another transplant with FUE? I think it's also time to switch to 1 mg of finasteride. You need that extra boost. If you got sides then use a topical finasteride too. Have you tried oral minoxidil?

I've definitely considered another hair transplant but my donor area has thinned quite a bit as well the last couple of years and I'm afraid if I was to get it done, my donor area would look quite bare I don't have any actual bald spots but you can easily see my scalp in some spots and if my hair was wet, I'd definitely look bald. I'll have to look into increasing the dosage of finasteride.

You can have the fut scars filled in with fue from under the chin or body hair, some people do the smp but it needs to be done properly or it will look worse, I will be eventually doing the same with fue
