Hasson & Wong Topical Finasteride Findings & Updates

If anybody doesn't know, then from the start of the year quite renowned doctors Hasson & Wong released their topical finasteride: https://hassonandwong.com/topical-finasteride-solution-prescription/

There are quite a few studies made on the effectiveness on topical finasteride (can be found from Hasson & Wong link).

So my story is basically going from this to this in a year:

download.jpg

Left is 14.09.2014 (bald as Steve Jobs in early days) and the right picture 22.10.2015 (to having head full of curls to extent that people wouldn't recognize me anymore).

Why am I posting this? It is because in 10.2015 I missed a week of finasteride and all hell broke loose. Have been shedding heavily since that time. Also got a description of dutasteride from my doctor but even dutasteride has not helped. My doctor guessed, that my body somehow doesn't synthesize the pills anymore. As much I have looked around, haven't seen an exact case like this anywhere. If you have any good theories, then I'll gladly listen to you out.

More importantly, why I'm writing this topic is because I'm about to order the topical finasteride from Hasson & Wong European partner (Farmacia Parati). And to log and picture everything down from the baseline. As oral finasteride and dutasteride seem to have no or little effect on me anymore, then the topical finasteride seems like the most promising one right now and because of that should really prove if it works as is described.

I received a description from Farmacia Parati that I have to forward to my doctor:

The first question (before I have to convince my doctor in it) is what are: Polimethylsilsesquioxane 5% and Dimethicone Peg 8 5%?

Also what do those lines mean?

Exipient inert qb

N°_____________Confection___________ml

Hopefully, anybody smarter has a clue and we can get this plane off the ground. From my side, I promise to update the topic with my findings and hopefully we can help out the community if it indeed turns out to be a viable solution.

Polimethylsilsesquioxane - a polymer used for controlled release of the drug. This polymer seems to simply encapsulate finasteride and slowly release it.
dimethicone - silicon-based polymer-may be used to improve application of the preparation. Its also known to protect the skin. It may also improve delivery of the drug. It's safe as it is commonly used OTC in headlice treatments.
PEG is polyethylene glycol. It may be used to enhance absorption of the drug or simply to help get finasteride into solution.

I havnt seen any evidence on this site that this topical formulation results in a lower blood concentration of finasteride? i.e. less incidence of side effects

Yeah those were some amazing results maybe that will shut up some people that criticize propecia or say its too risky. I think a lot of guys would take those risks for results like that. Anyone that says hair doesnt matter can kiss my butt the heck if he dont look 10 times better as Norwood 1
As for your question I am not sure.

More important than your johnson working? The risks are there. People should know, then proceed as they like.
But more information never hurt anything.

Thank you for the informative answer! I'll note them down.

Do you also have an idea what do those lines mean:

Exipient inert qb

N°_____________Confection___________ml

As it looks like the doctor has to write something there?

Regards the side effects. I have never had any sides so it is hard for me to evaluate that aspect of the topical finasteride. Although if it indeed works as described to whom oral finasteride/dutasteride doesn't work anymore (like me), then it makes a lot more sense to try it out for those as well who have sides with oral finasteride.

inert excipient "as much as needed" (to fill in the quantity).
specify how many jars of x ml each. (i'd say 1, 30ml afaik).

Excipient inert qb- This is simply the directions by which they are going to make this up with. They are going to use an 'inert excipient' or in other words an inactive ingredient as the base to dissolve the other ingredients in i.e. the finasteride/PEG etc. With regard to the 'qb', normally the term 'qs' is used-this means they are going to use a sufficient quantity of this inert excipient to make up this lotion/gel - they are unsure of the exact quantity of this excipient they will need to use.

Confection - this may be from the verb 'to confect' which means to make up/prepare therefore the doctor has to instruct how many ML he wants made up in the space provided.

I was wondering why you are going to try this topically rather than orally given the fact you were not affected by side effects in the past. Is there evidence of improve efficacy if applied topically?

@TwoGoats

Have you checked your serum dht to see if it's gone up or down due to your 1 week break? if your blood dht remains low a couple months after restarting pills, or is decreasing, then your doctor's guess about your body no longer responding to finasteride or dutasteride is bullshit.

So qs (or qb) with what? What is the inert ingredient? I might guess a hydroalcoholic mixture?

Nope I’d still rather a hard morning c*** than finasteride sides.

Each to their own eh. Please stay on topic.

Do you realise that his comment is 3 years old...?
You're basically talking to yourself here.
Go outside or something man, meet with other people. There's so many things outside of this forum. It's actually not healthy. I don't know you but it's for your own sake.
