Have phase II ICX-TRC trials really began?

Recruitment for Phase II clinical efficacy trial on patients with male pattern baldness has commenced in the UK with an initial cohort of up to 20 subjects which will be followed by variations in delivery technique in further similar sized cohorts.

This confused me, too. I think what they mean is that the first 20 needed for to test the current method/technology, but they are also recruiting another 20 (or "similar sized") participants for variations of the technique (tweaking of the ingredients, dosage, method, etc.). That's my interpretation.

This page says that they are recruiting. My guess (and hope) is that this is for the additional 20, but maybe we could write them and find out.?

So i emailed them and although i dont feel confortable copying-paste the whole e-mail they answered all my questions straight.

The info i got though was:
-Phase II trials have began. They have some patients and run the tests and they gradually add more, and that is the reason they still have the reqruitment page on their website.

-Phase II trials plan to test and improve the efficacy of the procedure (mainly the dose and the device of the micro-injector) and if everything goes well, ICX-TRC can be available in 2008 in countries that dont require Phase III trials.

This makes sense. This was the case for a totally separate clinical trial that I once participated in. It was this way for Phase I of that trial.

Thanks for inquiring and posting the response. Can't wait until some results are in next year (hopefully).

I recently sent an e-mail too and here is some info I got from them:

- They might do Phase III trials in the US. They said they weren't sure when it would be released.

- It would be expensive at first if it's really successful. They said the price would be comparable to cosmetic procedures or an hair transplant.

I checked average prices for cosmetic surgery procedures and it was around $3,000-$10,000.

Here is some proof for my above statement:

I'm still saving up for it.
