Head massage for hair-loss results?

You have no doubt all heard about this.

From what I can tell, it's mostly a scam - people trying to sell head-massage machines and expensive online memberships.

However, there is at least one study suggesting that it helps thicken hair diameter slightly. If there is something to it, then maybe it is beneficial in conjunction with the mainstream accepted treatments.

Anyone done it consistently for 3-months+ and have any results?

I only massage my scalp when I shampoo. Other than that, I haven't had any experiences yet. I'm too paranoid to do it in other situations and see a fuckton of hairs on my hands after

Ha. Funny story ... when I first started going bald, 20 years ago, I was too paranoid to wash my hair. My Dad said I should wash my hair every day but I had some crazy idea that it was causing me to lose my hair.

The twist is that we always used nizoral shampoo. If I'd actually done it I might have even saved some.

Luckily I got over it after a while (going bald, that is) and just shaved my hair. It's very liberating. I got way more girls than I did before too.

Ended up with a strained neck had dizzy spells kinda and couldnt walk straight, bumped into sh*t.
What on earth were you doing to massage your scalp??? Sticking your head in a clothes drier??

I'm sorry for your misfortune really. I'm just curious.

No simply massaging. You tense your neck automatically when you massage.

But how did a sore neck put you in psych ward???

Edit: I see you are from Sweden ... I'm actually in Stockholm myself ... but that's neither here nor there. Maybe there's some mis-translation going on here ... do you mean a physiotherapist?

Sore neck isnt the same as a strained neck. The neck has many nerves the neck is very delicate i was massaging for 20 min everyday my neck felt tensed after i was done. This led to maybe a pinched nerve or damage. I already was on a meeting at a hospital for another reason and i told them to take me in to the psych ward i was crying like a baby i stayed there for 2 weeks and doctor told me its most likely your neck that is causing balance problems and dizzyness. Massaging too heavily and too Long everyday is asking for trouble. Lesson learned. Never again.

Okay ... still seems weird. A Psychiatric ward is for mental illness, not sore necks or dizziness. I'm glad you're okay now though, I hope.

Scalp massages on its own most likely won't cause significant hair improvement. But is good to do in combination with the many other things needed to be done to treat hairloss as it will increase circulation to the hair follicles.

Woah. Sorry to hear that friend. I hope you're on the mend now.

In my experience, hair is really not that important. Let's face it, the only reason any of us care is girls (or guys if that's your thing). But they just don't care as much as we think. I never had more success with girls than the day I decided to stop worrying about my hair and shaved it off. Smiling a lot and looking them in the eye is worth ten times a thick head of hair.

Yeah man im 100% recovered, this was when I was like 27 or 28. The neck healed itself eventually but it took months.

I don’t think hair massage is what we are after. It’s more scalp squeezing to open up clogged hair follicles. At least that’s where I’m at. It might also be blood vessel rejuvenation or new formation. I do hair massage… it’s not enough…
