no it doesn't. Occassionaly it has been known to cause swelling in the breast area, almost like man tits. However, that is very rare. There is no link to loss of muscle mass.

Haven't lost any muscle mass here or gotten fatter. When someone loses muscle mass and gains fat, it's because they're (1) getting older, (2) not eating clean and (3) not exercising properly. Fitness isn't about just going to the gym 2-3 times a week and casually lifting some weights with bad technique. It's a lifestyle that requires sound science and consistency for years. If you want to look like an athlete you need to train like one -- brutally hard and track your food intake. And you have to like it or you won't make it in the long term.

Subliminal - I was just wondering if you regimen has worked. I am curious about the liquid finasteride. I haven't heard about that before.

It's working OK. Started in Feb 2006, and I've got short pigmented hairs coming back at the sides. Really obvious when the hairline is wet, but otherwise they're not as thick as normal hairs. The top portion of the temple I haven't seen much yet, but that was the first to go a couple years ago so I think it may take longer -- if it comes back at all. I've also been using 1/4 Merck Proscar as of late too.

The liquid finasteride I'm sure is legit (obviously since I saw regrowth with it alone). It's made by a company called Lion Nutrition, and it's USP grade. They've been in the business of making ancillaries for athletes/bodybuilders for a while. Things like T3, clenbuterol, estrogen inhibitors, etc. I think they also make dutasteride now too.

It's funny, I have a friend who's been using Propecia for the past year and he blames it for him gaining some weight. I'm sure it had nothing to do with him eating Burger King everyday for the past year.

I've only been on Propecia myself for 2 months, but I'm pretty much as I was before. I've been a little lazier in the gym area because of my school/work routine getting more intense, but I've maintained the same weight.

Well i dont think propecia will get you more body fat as this hasnt much to do with the DHT level..

To the Muscle loss: Well nope dont think eather cause Testosterone is responsible for building up muscles....

Cheers .. Luke

it probably can make you gain extra fat if it has a significant effect on your estrogen levels. I **think** this is why women have a higher proportion of body fat than men. Since taking it i've noticed an increase in body fat, even though i've been working out as regularly as ever.

you can get estrogen tests done 6 months into your finasteride use to see what sort of levels it's at - that'll give you a better answer..

It's sort of a catch-22. If you're already a heavy person you'll be more likely to gain further weight, IMO. Why? Because adipose tissue (see wikip: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adipose) can raise estrogen so you'll already have a higher estrogen level than a thin person.

It's also worth remembering that finasteride raises Testosterone and Estrogen about equally (15%).

finasteride does not make you fat

Not all bald people are in good shape. Now some of the overweight ones think they have a new excuse. I think it's been easier for my to gain muscle strength in the gym now that I've had that testosterone boost.

I've noticed a lot of chubby faced shaved bald guys. I think some escape the pain of knowing they can't date who they want by telling themselves that appearance does not matter, since they feel (and may be right) that their baldness is out of their control. While it is good to stop stressing, some people stop working on their muscles and tummy because they have already made themself forget that appearance matters. The trick is to not worry about what is out of your control, but still worry about what is in your control, and not be depressed by your hair, but still know it matters and try to do a few things about it. Some people just don't balance that well, and let themselves go physically.
