How do you do? My name is Brad, I'm 34 and have had a receeding hairline for a decade or so now. I started out losing the temples in my 20-somethings, but I accepted it as I still looked good even with the 'widow's peak'. Now, I have recently done a nice shed and noticed that the peak of my widow's peak is starting to fade, along with a pronounced thinness (albeit not shedding) in the vertex area of my scalp.
My family has male pattern baldness. Not total baldness, but male pattern baldness, and I would at least like to delay and/or prevent looking like that as I am now very much of a bachelor and still look good, widow's peak and all.
I'm not down with the Propecia, don't fancy the idea of playing with hormones internally, but just started minoxidil 5% with Nizoral 2-3x week and I'm waiting to see how the scalp reacts to it before potentially starting some spironolactone as well. I'm not looking to regrow my 20 something hairline, just keep what I got and thicken up my upper forehead to at least keep my widow's peak and nip the vertex thinning in the bud.
This is part of a whole new regimen for me, that includes adding some swimming to my gym workouts, concentrating on better food choices (just avoiding fast food, nothing dramatic) and starting a recommended quality multivitamin (Teitlebaum's Energy Enfusion series) which is new to me.
Does anyone have any good advice for someone with my pattern situation?... is minoxidil 5% plus spironolactone plus Nizoral 2-3x week a good regimen? I hear a lot of whining here, anyone have any success stories? Is the regimen worth the work, or should I trim the hair down and screw it? I'll keep you posted with my personal, and honest results of how things progress.
Nice to meet you all, hope to hear from you all, you will be hearing from me.
Cheers,
Brad
