Hi, just quickly, my story is that I took 1.25mg finasteride every day for approx. 4-5 months. No side effects, or noticeable ones at least, in the first 2-3 months.

Then in the last 2 months, my breasts started to get tender and my chest would fill up with what felt like a liquid substance.

I tried reducing my dosage to 0.5mg, and taking it EOD at times, but it didn't have any affect.

I quit finasteride 3 weeks ago and then took one dosage last night only for my breasts to become tender immediately and for them to fill up with the liquid again.

Is there any recommendations on what I can do to avoid this? I really want to be able to get to a stage where I can get back on finasteride and not experience this side effect?

Is this possible or is it most likely that I will never be able to use the drug again in the future.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone?

As a quick update, i was breaking the tablets yesterday and was touching the powder, and I felt my chest fill up and become tender within 5 minutes of touching it.

Is it normal to have such a strong reaction from touching a propecia tablet when it's been broken?

It's certainly possible that finasteride caused gyno during the 4-5 months you took it. It's a very rare symptom, but possible.

However, there is absolutely NO way taking a single dose could instantly cause your breasts to 'fill up with liquid' unless you had some extreme allergic reaction. Even then, I couldn't imagine this being your reaction.

If you think this symptom occurred within 5 minutes of touching the powder, I can almost certainly tell you this is in your head. I've never heard of an allergic reaction that made a man's breasts swell up with liquid. Even if you swallowed a hundred propecia pills, it would take hours for the drug to start taking any effect, not 5 minutes, and especially not from simply touching the powder.

That's what I'm tending to think. I was just wondering if it was absorbed through the skin and it could do this.

I also thought that a reaction within 5 minutes each time (first time of taking it this week, then touching it), seemed a bit extreme.

Do you have any advice as to how I should go about things now? Should I stay off it until I think my gyno has cleared up (I don't have any lumps, so I just need to wait till there is no tenderness of flabbiness), and then start at a reduced dose?

Or will the gyno come back either way?

Oh man I thunk I was dreaming but you seems to have the same feeling about propecia. Generally, the first months I take propecia, I feel like some liquid go from my stomach to my left breast. It is very strange. I don't really know if it's gyno beacause when I stop propecia my breast becomes less swollen within 2 weeks.

Are you still using it and did this issue subside with continued use? Are there any ways to stop it? Lower dose? Anyone with any suggestions?

Anyone? I'm in desperate need of advice. I'm off finasteride at the moment and it goes away gradually. When it's completely gone, how do I start again without getting these effects?

I'm still using it and it always come back but it generally stops at the same limit (a bit swollen but not worrying). I mean, with continued use, the niple is still swollen but don't "grow" more after 1-2 months. I don't know for the lower dose because I have not changed it.

Anyone else had a form of gyno while on finasteride, only to quit and for it to go away. And then on recommencement of finasteride, no gyno sides come back?

Having an allergy to finasteride is like being allergic to testosterone. The moleculs are so similar.

I don't believe I have an allergy. I believe I had too much estrogen built up in my system that caused this.

Have people suffered from sides like these, only to have a break and then come back and be fine on their second attempt?
