--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i am 26 years old. i noticed that my hair looked thin about 5 years ago.
nobody could notice but in the bathroom mirror when my hair was wet after taking a shower, i could see my scalp through about halfway back to the middle of my head. my sides and rear are thicker, maybe they always have been. it's my front thats thinner slighty, and more on the right side.
never before did i ever consider that i was losing my hair.
i have been washing my hair with nioxin ever since out of paranoia.
actually, my hair lookes the SAME.
i still don't know if i am losing my hair, my hair is not thin, it is just not super thick and the front is not as thick as in the rear and sides and hair comes out easier. i lose less than 100 per day.
i have a receded hairline that i have always had from my dad, it has not moved.
it is not noticable unless i slick it back with gel and still, it looks
about average thickness.

after looking in the foroms here, i started nizoral, 3 days a week.
i have been using it for over a month and when i have my hair style forwardf over my forehead, it seems like it is not covering my forehead as densly as before, like my hair is thinner now.

is there a shedding with nizoral?
is my hair thinning, peroid?

i always had an itchy scalp that is now gone because of the nizoral.
if i am losing hair, is it because of male pattern baldness or could there be a CORRECTABLE REASON?
i have no real major hairloss on bothsides of my family.

I DONT KNOW IF MY HAIR IS THINNER THAN IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN.
I JUST DONT KNOW.

IS EVERYBODIES HAIR THINNER THAN IS WAS IN HIGH SCOOL?

There's really no way to tell if you'll just lose some thickness or if it will continue to more advanced male pattern baldness.

Plenty of guys will tell you to jump onto propecia right away. For me, it did squat to stop frontal thinning and I was on it for about 3 years.

If you're sure you want to try something, I would recommend you start with 5% minoxidil once per day. Give it 5-6 months. This is the shortest time you'll need to invest in a treatment to know if it works for you. Propecia can take a year or more. With minoxidil you could see results after just 2-3 months. You will have to continue its use indefinitely to maintain results, but it may be well worth it.

Using minoxidil 2 x day is optimal, but because it takes a long time to dry and can cause bad flaking for some, once per day may be far more convenient. Since you just want to regain some thickness, this may be all you need. Might as well start with the lowest hassle routine possible.

Just one dood's recommendation.

BTW, I've been on minoxidil for about 9 months and my hair looks 100% better than it did a year ago.
