I’ve been taking finasteride since 30/09/2019, at first it slowed down my loss from 100+ hair to 5/10 hair daily, my hair also looked thicker, but at the start of month 3 (around mid December), my hair started to shed again.

No itch, no pain, no oiliness. Just shedding + lower libido, way lower libido hair body loss.
I’m wondering what’s going on!

My hairline has gotten worse, I’m 20yo and I started from a Norwood 1.5, now I’m approaching a 2 in a few weeks I guess.

Isn’t lower libido and thin body hair supposed to be a sign that finasteride is working? If it is, then why are my temples still receding? I’m tired.

Please, give me some advice ‘cause I’m thinking about givin up.

Thank u in advance.

I would actually give it more time. 3 months is still infant level patience for finasteride. You could try adding minoxidil to the mix if you are that paranoid, and it's quite very likely to regain the lost temple hairs as they were only recently been lost.
If topical minoxidil is a pain for you, invest in oral minoxidil 2,5mg, which has more chances of being effective + moderate chance of thickning body and facial hair.

As said above month 3 is incredibly early on and most people in the first few months suffer from shedding. Wait a full year to judge the effects.

Even in the trials it stated 18% of men had visible improvement at 12 months, whilst 36% had improvement at 24 months . Bottom line - finasteride takes time (even if you are a regrow responder).

Thank you sooo much for the answers.

I know, I’m paranoid, but just because it stopped my hair loss at first and then it came back again!

But, is it normal to lose body hair on finasteride? Does it mean it’s working? Thank you again

Yup, losing body hair is quite normal of finasteride and it does mean it's doing something at least. I have the same side effects on dutasteride.

Is dutasteride helping you?
Well, I know for sure it’s doing something because I also got super low libido now lol but I don’t mind it

Yeah. It's helping me A TON more than when i was using Topical minoxidil alone. I might add Oral minoxidil later on, since now my DHT is being taken care of.

At six months you'll probably know the final result, it seems quite rare (though not unheard of) to recover between month 6 and 12 on finasteride. After 6 months maybe add in Dutasteride every other day. If that doesn't help the front use RU on the front. If that doesn't help try minoxidil. I'd do it in this order because minoxidil doesn't protect the hair from androgenic damage, it's just a growth stimulant and only works for a few years
