Help! My Balls...

I need advice if i should stop taking propecia as my testicle is in an almost constant state of numbness after only a few days treatment.

Started taking 5mg proscar for male pattern baldness at the advice of my (ignorant?) GP. Was fine the first day, but by 3rd day i stopped because of the pain in my lower abdomen (just above and left of my penis) and left testicle. I stopped taking for 3 days, pain almost completely stopped.

Then started taking 1/5 of proscar tab. Now 3 days in and my left ball is in constant numbness and abdomen pain has returned. I get pain relief if i press on my abdomen, but nothing stops the ball pain. Both pains subside a little during the day, but return when i consume the medicine at night. No change in sex drive or other symptoms.

Is this common, should i though it out for a couple of weeks to see if the pain subsides? Or should i stop taking it completely?

Im worried what im doing to my little guys, id rather be bald than damage my reproductive system.

Any thoughts and advice would be much appreciated

Well first off I don't know why he bothered prescribing you 5mg Finasteride. It is pointless. Proscar 5ths gave me the same sides, I had to quit. Eventually after a few weeks or so of ball ache, I had a huge decrease in ejaculate and had a hard time maintaining erections. It's the look of the draw with Finasteride.

I would advise you to get Propecia or a generic version and split it in 1/2 or into 1/4's. That is your last hope with Finasteride, It is said to have a flat dose response anyways which means that .5mg is nearly the same as 1-5mg.

Are you sure your Doctor is legit? I can't imagine any MD starting
someone with 5mg finasteride for hairloss. It must be some type of mistake.

You can either get your Doctor to correct his error, get a new doctor or
cut your dose as decro435 suggested.

I and others have experienced genital numbness in penis and scrotum (exact tissues where 5AR2 is being inhibited) after taking the drug, which did not resolve after discontinuing.

I'd get off it and stay off if I were you. I experienced the exact same issue, same time frame and everything, yet stupidly continued on for 11 months thinking things would simply go back to normal once I quit. Big mistake, turned out not to be true.

Lower dosages will make no differences due to near flat dose response of the drug.
