Hey guys! so i've been having hairloss issues for over a year now. My crown area is perfect but my temples were receding very quick. I am only 22 years old and I jumped on Minoxidil 5% after a checkup with the doctor. I've been on minoxidil for over 2 months now and I do feel my hair is getting thick. The problem is on the temples. After a shower, my hair looks great with very less bald spots but as the day goes, my temple looks worse. It's not completely horrible but i wanted to at least treat the hairloss and stop it. What do you guys suggest? Should i jump on finasteride 1mg even tho it has chances of all those horrible side effects?

I've attached pics after shower. They're not completely wet and were getting a little dried up. 3.jpg

I really think if anyone is so concerned about side effects of finasteride should start with topical finasteride as it tends to cause less intense side effects than oral. If I were in your shoes I would start with liposomal topical finasteride first before oral. Minoxidil is a growth stimulant but it will not block DHT.

if you wanted a quick result, toppik and hair spray would make a difference also. finasteride would make sense if you wanted to risk any side effects.

What’s a topical Finasteride? And how is it different from the 1 mg Finasteride. I went to the doctors and he allowed me the prescription for 1mg finasteride. I know it’s rare but i wanted to hear peoples take on finasteride

From what i heard toppik and hair spray does close to nothing. Minoxidil is definitely helping me but my hair fall isn’t stopping. The hair is coming out better with occasional hairfall on the way. How likely would u recommend Finasteride here?

Topikk is 10/10 if you have minor thinning on the scalp you want to conceal. It really bonds to your head to so you don't really have to worry about it coming out during the day.

For your problem in the temples it might not do much or it might save your ***. It's cheap and worth a purchase to find out.

I'd say it would do well for you because your temples seem to be diffuse thinning and there is a lot of hair for it to bond to.

Just google a compounding pharmacy in your area and then get your doctor write if for topical finasteride. I have been on finasteride for 14 years and I am doing just fine. The only sides were decrease in body hair and watery semen. My PSA has been the same for over 10 years.

Agree with the recommendations for topical finasteride as well. Your temples look like they could either be preserved for years or go Norwood 3 overnight.

I would be wary about the early shedding in the temples though. It could either save your *** and give you a full head of hair or butcher your *** to a Nor 3 if you are one of the extremely unlucky ones that doesn't recover from the early shed phase... the second scenario is far more unlikely though.
