Hi everyone. To cut a long story short, stumbled across this board a couple of years ago looking for help in controlling my receeding hair line. About a year ago I jumped on propecia and started using Nizoral shampoo. Everything is going great, no longer seem to be losing hair and over the last month or so there have been new hairs growing aloing my hairline. No side effects to report either :) Exciting stuff! However I am in a situation I presume many of you have faced in the past. Being a student my funds are short and I have run out of medication. I am now forced to take a three to four week break from finasteride until I can afford to replace the medication. Can anyone set my mind at rest and tell me all of this will be ok? Will my new hair fall out? Will I progress more slowly? I'm very annoyed with myself for letting this happen as I feel that I'm on the brink of seeing some real improvements.

A 4 week break is a bit too long..

I'm sure you've heard of Proscar? You can cut that into quarters and it is basically same as taking 1 Propecia.
Can your on campus doctor write you a prescript for Proscar? I never bought those but I hear they're cheap. When I went to school, insurance was mandatory so you have access to a doctor while I was in school.

If they tell u no, let me know thru PM. I'll send some Propecia your way.

Thanks for trying to help, I really appreciate it, I'm from the UK though. Even with a prescription the proscar will cost more than I can afford until pay day...

IMO you should try your best ( budget your money) to stay on the finasteride and not take a break

cheers mate

Order Finast from unitedpharmacies. It's generic proscar from a reputable doctor in India. Dr. Reddy. I ordered a 5 month supply for 25 dollars. Shipping was around 7$ so it was 32$ in total. You can buy less than that, too, if you are really tight on cash.

I've heard from several people that have used this drug that it works just as well as propecia. Cut it into 5ths b/c it's a 5milligram tablet as opposed to propecia's 1mg. :)
