Help With Side Effects From Finasteride

I've been off of finasteride since December, and was only on it for 6 weeks. I quit due to sides. About 2 weeks into my course of it it seems as though it's had an irreversible effect on me- increased shedding, dry brittle hair, I could actually feel my density decreasing in the space of 2/3 days- running my hands through my hair I could feel it getting thinner. My crown is visible now. Burning sensation in my scalp and incredibly oily skin.

Has anyone recovered from these symptoms? Does anyone have any tips to combat this? Thanks

throw finasteride, it’s unpredictable, everyone has different hormonal systems and the ratio of hormones is different. The action of finasteride is different due to the ratio of hormones to one another. hair and for the body as a whole. Inhibition of 5a is unacceptable! You thereby lose the metabolites of progesterone, estradiol, testosterone. The safest method is the trans-mode on microdoses. Spironolactone + estradiol or CPA and estradiol

I have stopped using it and haven't been on it for about 10 months now. It has messed me up, and I didn't suffer with the more common sides such as ED or low libido. Just trying to find a way to fight the sides I do have.

It sounds like your AR is upregulated - which explains the thinning hair and oily skin. However after months that makes no sense as receptors should regulate back to baseline very quickly in the absense of an interfering drug.

Have you had bloods done ?

Oily skin, burning scalp, constant shedding and thinning of the hair
oily skin is caused by elevated androgens. Most likely, you have worsened the situation with finasteride. If you take CPA 1ml + 1ml estradiol without doctors. Take 10 days. Then take a break. If there is a recession, then again 10 days. This should help remove oily scalp and thinning hair.

I appreciate the replies. It's definitely been caused by finasteride as I didn't have any of these symptoms before I took it, and it all started roughly around 2 weeks into taking 1mg a day.

I haven't had bloods taken yet, where I live it's extremely difficult to get to see a doctor about anything- I had to wait a week for a telephone appointment. I was prescribed some steroid shampoo for the burning but it's done nothing and going private is too expensive. I'll keep plugging away trying to get an appointment.

I dont know where you're from but you can get bloods done online. They send you a kit, prick your finger, send off in a little vial. Thats what i do.
