hi,
i have been using minoxidil ,to stop my mild hair loss, but no luck , it just keep shedding
and now i am trying to use other solutions

how about propecia? long road, but is it really effective?
and i heard rumours aboout decreas of libido. is that for real?

i am blonde, and my hair is just thin, i just feel its fur , but i think its always like that, before the hair fall,
anyway, is it better to go with revivogen? although it seems far too expensive and hard to find here

what are scientists doing?! before getting to mars, stop our hair fall!

I've been on Propecia for just over a year, but I ran out two weeks ago and my libido has suddenly increased so much that I'm 'functioning' about twice a day now! I'm going back on Propecia as soon as I can afford it again (cashflow problems at the moment) and I expect my sex drive to diminish again. Though that's not the case for everyone.

Propecia is effective for most guys and I've seen some amazing regrowth results in friends. However, it's probably better to expect it to prevent further loss rather than regrow. It kind of stops your hair loss primarily.

For me my hair's more important than sex - at least I'm less destracted when on propecia and can get on with more important things!

I'd say it's safe, yeah.

Propecia starts to work within a few weeks, but it's different for different guys and stabilisation can take anything from 3 months onwards.

I've used Minoxidil for about 5 years and changed to the foam last August. And I've been using Nizoral 2-3 times a week for 16 months. I just need to get back on Propecia as soon as I can afford it.

for the majority propecia works, for a minority There are serious side effects, for what seems to be a reasonable amount of people, they experience mild sides. Whichever way it falls with you personally, you won't really know until you try it, for most it does work to varying degrees, worse case it should at least slow your hairloss down, best case you might even see slight regrowth, however that is unlikely.

If sides start, jump ship as easy as that.

Oh and your libido will jump up after coming off propecia, but it always seems to level back out after being off it for a longer period of time.

whats foam?

Minoxidil comes in a foam and has done since late 2006, but it's only available off the shelf in the US. However, you can get it from a UK website called Minoxidil Direct. It costs £40 for four months supply. Read about people's experiences of it on the Minoxidil discussion forum here.

i took 40 pills of propecia, offcourse once a day, and here are the results:

1- at the begining i was shocked, its just gr8, my hair stopped falling dramatically, although i know it just doesnt work from the first pill, but it really did, in addition to nizoral...

2- after the 20 pill, or so, my hair started falling again, but not like before, but still falling is that normal?

3- i am using minoxidil too, so i am using 3 products, propecia, nizoral, minoxidil, as the site said, it produce gr8 results

no regrowth, when should i expect it?

and why is my hair still falling, althout its not like 3 or 2 hair, its like whenever i take a shower, 10 hair or more will be shed :(

I too tried minoxidil for several years. Was never able to confirm that it was doing much. I started taking Propecia in 1998 and knew after a few weeks that it was starting to work. When I was losing my hear, I noticed a strange sensation within follicles that were "dying". I have been on Propecia now for 10 years. Never noticed in side effects. I would be bald if not for this drug.

My eye twitches when people state they have been on finasteride (specify time) and is therefor safe. Maybe it is for them, and thats great. However, it can take months/years for mild and/or serious side effects to kick in. I was fine on finasteride (1mg/day) for 12 months before the sh*t hit the fan and all sorts of horrible problems began to surface.

So....be cautious. Pay attention to how you are feeling.

Its only been a month so its a little early to say. However, the 'shed' I experienced coming off finasteride which lasted three months has stopped and I see lots of new growth in the frontal 'tuft' area and also signs of velus hair in the temples along with sprouting within the temple hairline. Generally my hair looks better than it did a month ago with more volume. Now, at least some of that could be due to regrowth from the hair kicked out when I stopped finasteride - so we shall see. Ask me in another month or two if your still interested. However, I feel optimistic at this point.

Oh, I just added a 200mW 650nm laser for 10 minutes a day to give me the 6J/cm2 at my temples - I'm hitting the problem with everything I can find. Even gonna make a green tea extract :freak:

I'm relatively new here as well...

At the moment I'm only using minoxidil x2 daily. Too early to tell if it is doing anything, but I think I'm getting more vellus hair in my temples.

I tried finasteride for a week, it gave me testicular pain. I have other priorities in life at the moment so I decided to stop it. I might give it another go when I have free time and I'm more relaxed. If I start again and get the same pain, I will consult a doctor. I don't want to risk anything. Some of the posts say hair is more important than sex, I don't have a girlfriend at the moment but for me sex is more important than my hair. Sooner or later I will have someone in my life, and I want to enjoy life with her.

I might have let sex slide when I didn't have a girl, but no way now. Anyways, if you just using minoxidil twice daily I would recommend spicing it up with Joe's hairmuck which contains Beta Sitosterol. That may make it more powerful by adding topical DHT blocking potential. The price is right.

Well, I use Revita shampoo. I'm not sure if it is doing anything but it makes my hair very soft. So that's the only topical DHT blocker I use at the moment.
