Hey,

I've been speaking with my GP who has said my blood pressure is through the roof for someone my age (23) and is at the dangerous spectrum.

I was wondering if there's a relation between androgentic alopecia and high blood pressure?

It maybe making it worse, but you’ll still be balding if you get your bp under control. Maybe start taking oral minoxidil lol

maybe that's why minoxidil works ^^
btw afair my hair loss started arround the same time hypertension but it's impossible to say this is the certain cause
here is an interesting study for example.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17478384
there are few studies linking male pattern baldness with heart disease / hypertension
I 'm supplementing with garlic and mag/cal for month I will see what it does.

@nick123 what is your hairloss pattern?

Ya it’ll increase it. Get your adrenals checked. You could have secondary hypertension from something like hyperaldosteronism

I'm a pretty aggressive diffuse thinner, decent hairline but the density on the top of my head is the same everywhere. So it's all going to go at once :(.

Yes, they are related. Get your aldosterone levels checked.

I also was diagnosed with extremely high blood pressure, which the doctor thinks must be a genetic thing because there are no other factors that could cause it. Interestingly, some hair loss treaments are also hypertension medication: minoxidil, spironolactone.

I think Androgenetic Alopecia is triggered by muscle tension in the head. Naturally, this also means high blood pressure when the blood vessels are constricted by muscle tension. This is described very precisely on the following website:

The cause can only be local high blood pressure on the scalp and not in the whole body. Because there are enough men with low blood pressure and Androgenetic Alopecia.

I think there is only one factor. That is called circulatory disorder. This leads to a lack of oxygen. And we know that in oxygen-deficient tissues, DHT is formed from T, while in oxygen-rich tissues, E2 is formed from T (via aromatase).
Circulatory disorders arise when the vessel diameter is too small. And of course, if the blood vessels are constricted, there is also high blood pressure.
