Hm, how quick can minoxidil produce a systemic response?

I put a bit on my hairline (just to keep it kicking) a second ago before bed for the first time, totally not expecting anything to happen, and I felt pretty tense quite quickly, like my whole body felt tense really fast. I left it for a bit but once or twice I was about to drift asleep and shook awake! Very odd. I did have some spironolactone AND folligen already on those areas so I dunno if they increased absorption or anything like that, it was only Dr Lee's 5% minoxidil. I wonder if it was in my head or not... maybe I'll try again in a couple of days o_O

It's hard to tell. It's active on your scalp for at least 4 hours. Systemic absorption in significant amounts, usually manifests itself by dizziness, racing heart and breathing problems. It's not pleasant.

Yeah I mean if it was the minoxidil I felt the response from my body pretty quick, before I'd even finished rubbing drops into my hairline. I did use perhaps a little bit more than I had to, as with most things like spironolactone, folligen, spectral rs, mega-tek etc i PILE them on sometimes, so even though I was being more careful with minoxidil I guess I still could have used less. I felt like an internal *gasp* from my body, like it all tensed up - like I say I was really not expecting it.

Maybe I'll try a bit again in a few days.. kinda freaked me though lol

EDIT -- What's amazing though is if it WAS the minoxidil, it shows just how fast things get absorbed into the scalp and hit the bloodstream - it was literally about 10-15 seconds or something. That's so quick!

It's quick allright, but I don't know if it's absorbed THAT quickly. However, when I use Andractim, it doesn't take long before I feel the effect. I've got a reaction from 5% minoxidil three times myself, and it struck within a hour.

I've still been using it on my hairline - seems alright now but I'm using it more sparingly too and just taking care to spread each drop well. I'll probs be fine :)

I have a bad habit of scratching my scalp during the mid day due to the dryness caused by applying Min in the morning. The result is small little skin breaks that allow the afternoon Min dose to go systemic. Happens quite frequently, racy heart beats for at least two hours. Damn thing is, I keep scratching. Yes I use Nizoral.

I would find it hard to believe that minoxidil would cause any reaction basically upon contact with your skin so it was probably in your head.

Hoppi, i thought you were sort of anti minoxidil and finasteride...now i see youre back and posting threads about finasteride and minoxidil...did you change your mind?
