How accurately do you think your votes are counted?

How big is the conspiracy?

  • The polls are well regulated and public, but urban legend still exists.

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • Individuals try to rig the polls for their party, sometimes successfully.

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • All parties try to rig the polls, sometimes successfully.

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • The major parties are just puppets. Someone much stronger rigs the polls.

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • It goes much deeper than that.

    Votes: 0 0.0%

  • Total voters
    2

I know I'm paranoid, but I'm afraid that our city councils probably pick the winners of each district. Or maybe somone else does, unless the percentages are so overwhelming that they'd know they'd raise suspicions if they did not award the correct winner.

Anyone know how our ballots are counted, and how many people watch? Can they load them up on to a truck, drive somewhere, and maybe have a chance to unload a different ballot box for all to count?

I'd just feel better if someone would convince me that how we vote is only rigged by the media swaying voters, or by disorganized, random ballot tampering at the local level, and some centralized conspiracy.

A smart puppent master would not rig every election. They would just rig enough of them (the ones close to 50-50) so that they had just enough power to stay in power. They also use the media to hide stuff from voters, and other subtle means that cumulatively add up to keeping the will of the people at 40% or less in the legislatures and congress. And they'd give us fake gallop polls to make us think that we were a 45% minority when we are really a 60% majority, so we'd go along with it.

I know nothing of the USA, it's far enough away from me as to be irrelevant, but I'll share what I think about my shitty country (Britain)

I don't think both major parties (Labour and the Conservatives) rig the elections, both of them are far too incompetant for that.
They vie for power by using gimmicks and hair brained schemes that cause more harm than good in the long run (the VAT cut for one).
If they could rig elections, I doubt they'd bother.

At the end of it, they're all controlled by the wealthy capitalists, who buy them off with "contributions" so the crooks in charge pass the laws that they want.
The UK government is very corrupt IMO. As for Gordon Brown, I think he's just a moron. Watching him speak in the House is evidence enough of that.

A lot of yanks seem to have great aminosity towards Obama, why is that? He seems a vast improvement on Bush - a lot less corrupt for one.

Besides, everyone knows Merck is behind the government - after all, if the cure for male pattern baldness got out, they'd be ruined. :youbet:

Huh? I don't know that that's the case. After all, he _did_ get elected President!

What you may be thinking of is all the anti-Obama sentiment among right-wing media types. The Fox News supporters and commentators, for example. But I don't take them very seriously. If I listen to them at all, it's just for sheer entertainment value, as they huff and puff and turn blue in the face over that evil Socialist Baraque Obama! I find all that quite amusing! :)

I don't think Bush is corrupt, just stupid.

CCS: There will always be voter fraud. How much, probably not enough to give unfair results unless the vote is really, really close IMHO.

Overall, and this is just my layman's opinion, I think the results are fairly tallied in the main.

But there are some crooks. Look at the Acorn employees/volunteers who are being investigated by the FBI in about 10 instances currently. There's also a Republican candidate in Tennessee who is serving time right now for voter tampering IIRC.

This will always be a problem and from an FBI agent I talked to years back, they are very aware of this problem.
