I am 19 and have stongly considered getting on propecia recently. About in March, I went to my dermatologist to get a prescription for propecia but he didn't think it was necessary. At that time I still had the majority of my hair intact, albeit some recession. He told me to use rogaine 5% and i've been using it eversince, twice a day, everyday. My derm also said he wouldn't allow me to get on propecia unless I was in my 30's and it was dangerous for me because I am still young and growing. Is that true? I'm not a rocket scientist but I remember propecia being ok for men 18 and over.
Anyways, the minoxidil 5% had a pretty good affect on me. It helped me out on the temples n slowed the recession tremendously for the first 5-6 months. BUT the affects r wearing down...
My hairline is getting thinner with shitty hairs which has made me deathly worried. At first I wondered if I was just going through a shedding phase, but i doubt that now as i have been shedding for the past month and half. I've been losing a lot more hair lately. It's starting to have a psychological affect as I keep thinking about it. The overall density of my hair on top has slowly dropped, but surely. My hair is a #5 clip and usually it is dark on top, but now i can see some scalp. It's very depressing.
I was wondering if there was a way, any way, I could get my hands on propecia without a prescription? I know it will help me out on the diffuse thinning on top. Do you guys think using it at my age of 19 is hazardous to my health?
Thank you for your time.
