How do I cut proscar into four pieces??

I have been on Propecia for close to a month and would like to get started on Proscar however am I quite surprised with the size of the pill. It’s pretty much the same size as the Propecia!!!
How do people split this into fourths considering the size? In addition, my pills are actually 5mg of Finisteride so technically shouldn’t I be splitting these into 5ths? I am guessing 1mg gets lost with the cutting involved?
Note I do have a pill cutter that I bought but it looks like at most I can split the Proscar in half. Any harm if I am taking more than 1mg of Finisteride? I am just not sure if I could cut the pill ok.

Don't bother cutting it into 5 pieces. Do 4. Split the pill right down the middle, and then split the two parts again. The pill is oval/drop shaped if I remember correctly, so split the parts a little more over to the thick side of the parts. You'll get this after splitting a few pills. Just take your time and do it slowly the first times.

More finasteride inhibits more DHT, but there isn't much difference between 1 mg and ~1.25 mg

Actually the pill cutter worked better than I thought but I still have minor issues. I managed to cut the pill into four but all four pieces are not the same size. I suspect some of the pills may be over or under the regular 1 mg required. Considering it was a 5mg pill, I think I am good to go but not a 100% sure.

Thanks Enden ... the pill is exactly how you mentioned. Splitting down the middle was easy but the remaining two was a little tricky due to what you described ... I hope I can manage with next few tries.

It's impossible to cut it into exact 1/4th. Don't worry about uneven dosage, it really won't affect your results.

Yeah, but each piece should still be at least 1 mg, to be sure.

A simple straight edged razor blade works good but you will never get perfect 1/4's regardless and it doesn;t really matter.

I place the pill in cleaned tuna can and cut it inside the can as the pieces tend to fly around.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. I just cut my next pill and I am already getting better at it.

I just find it a mystery how 5mg of finisteride is in Proscar and only 1mg in Propecia when the pills are almost identical in size. I just hope I'm getting the 1mg needed as 1/4 of proscar looks fairly tiny.

Anyway, I am super happy this is only costing me $9 a month when I paid $80 last month for Propecia. The cutting involved is so worth it!!

I am so glad I found this site, I use a sharp knife to cut mine into fifths, it's not problem.
