I do agree but remember the "10,000" hour theory of mastering a subject. They mostly deal with below the neck and are not obsessive like us. It would be nice to see more cutting edge dermatologists and GP's out there. Endos focus mainly on stuff that matters physically, like cancer.

Doctors are generally smart people who specialize in a specific subject. Family medicine / general practice is 90% taking care of the “greatest hits” of extremely common medical problems and then recognizing the 10% where it’s time to refer to a specialist. It’s not surprising that they only have an extremely vague idea of what finasteride does because they have no reason to ever prescribe it.

Either find a cosmetic dermatologist or hairloss Doctor or do an online consult.

I would (knowing what I know now) ask for a referral to a specialist, specifically a dermatologist. Bite the bullet and pay the bills for an expert.

There's a lot of misinformation on finasteride, it's a shame that some of it catches with general medicine. I was under the impression that it may cause infertility, it doesn't, that's a myth.

To be fair, it's general medicine, they can't be experts at everything.
