How Do You Take Dutasteride So That It Is Most Effective?

As dutasteride has a substantial half life, ive read that you are able to take it 3 times a week for it to be effective. Is this true or does it need to be taken every day? Also if you were to choose to take it three times a week do you need a loading face taking it every day for a certain amount of time for it to be well integrated into your system? Thanks

The long half life simply means you can be more flexible of when you take it. If you want to take the equivalent of .5mg daily in just 3 weekly doses, you would take 1.16 mg 3 times a week. You could also get away with 1.75 mg twice a week. Taking just 3.5 mg once a week would be pushing the limits of the half-life imo and probably result in wide fluctations of serum level for a very long time until steady state is reached.

Taking .5 mg 3 times a week will be less effective than taking .5 mg ED as it is dose dependent.

Its more due to expense as i can get it for £25 a month while finasteride is on £15. Is it worth making the change have u noticed any improvement in thickening the temples as this is the only reason im considering making the switch as finasteride has definitely slowed progression but i dont feel its going to improve it and think it still may be getting worse. Im 6 months in as well.

If you take dutasteride .5 mg 3 times a week that averages out to slightly more than .2 mg of dutasteride ED which inhibits more 5AR2 than finasteride, even at the 5 mg ED dose for finasteride I believe.
