I think he means should you wash your scalp before applying minoxidil to avoid a build up... I think anyway. If this is the question, I don't know the answer...

It depends on what condition your scalp is in... Since starting minoxidil ive had to start washing my hair more as its actually caused dandruff and flaking for me (which I didnt have before starting it), so depending on your situation if all that crap is on your scalp then im assuming its not going to penetrate aswell. Also if your scalp is damp then minoxidil penetrates better so it does help if you apply after showering.

My scalp tolerates 4-5 minoxidil applications over 2 or 3 days before it gets very dirty and I feel that with 3rd day hair it's very oily plus minoxidil buildup from previous applications so I just wash it and I'm not seeing excessive shedding or indicators that minoxidil is poorly working when I stopped washing may hair every day

Don't use shampoo at all and nizoral once or twice a week, dandruff and scalp inflammation will stop.

Wash your hair just with water and dry thoroughly (dry and then give it 10mins) before applying minoxidil, but I'm not certain this is totally necessary.
