How Is My Maintenance Going Or Lack Thereof?

Hello everyone. For years I have used Zix and just rosemary and peppermint oil in my shampoo, along with supplementation on and off of astaxanthin (apparently a moderately strong DHT inhibitor.... my libido always decreases on it...).

Anyway the first two pictures are from 4 plus years ago. That is a high hairline yes but it is the hair I was born with. The right temple when pulled back has Always been more far back than the left.

So these two are from four years ago

Now the ones below this, are from this year. The first one is from January, second is from today amd third is me with my hair styled today

The current pulled back pictures from January and today is essentially how my hairline looked like pulled back 4 years ago... I am wondering what my Norwood is for the pictures 4 years ago, what you think they are now, and if my hair is still decent for my age.

Thanks everyone

Your regimen won’t stop hair loss, I’m afraid. The longer you stay on it, the worse your hair will continue to get. Hair loss cant be stopped without some form of 5ar inhibitor. Take 0.5mg of finasteride if the thought of side effects scares you.

But I'm using a 5ar inhibitor (zix)

something like zix is far too weak to slow hair loss. You can start on 0.25mg of finasteride if you really need to. Or even space it out, and take 1mg mwf. Remember, the more you deliberate, the more hair you lose. finasteride is best at maintaining hair, not regrowing it. So if you’re serious about stopping further loss, it’s imperative you hop on as soon as possible.

Thanks for the help man.

Well all thongs considered I have one final question really..... since Zix is not strong enough and since I am afraid of finasterade side effects, doesn't finasterade, regardless of the dosage, eventually reach the same levels in the body. So a small dose will eventually saturate my body with as much DHT inhibition as a higher dose?

Regardless of your answer do you think since my hairloss isn't really aggressive that .25 omg of finasterade would work well? Especially on an every other day schedule?

Lastly, I do know they make topical finasterade, and was wondering what you think of that

The studies Ive seen showed 0.25 to inhibit a bit less than 1mg.~ 10%. And, no, there’s no cumulative effect.

It’s impossible to tell, but, so long as you’re consistent with it I see no reason why it wouldn’t maintain your current hair.

I wouldn’t bother with topical Finasteride. It’s an enormous hassle to use, difficult to store and hard to mix. Either way, it goes systemic. You want to make your regimen as hassle free as possible to make sure you stick to it
