Guys,

Just wondering how long anyone has gone off Minoxidil without a problem. I will be going away for a few days and it will be too much of a hassle to use it. Any ideas, how long is the MAX?

Longest i have done is a week when i was away at a festival and it was completely unpractical to apply. I had no shed and hair looked great when i started re-applying.

Longest break i have heard of was two weeks without sheding. Personally i feel a week is best. :D

I recently went 10 days and underwent a mini shed when resuming on day 11.

So, I agree w/ Petchsky - try and keep it to 1 week.

Thank you guys. I will be going away for 5 days in a few weeks. Will practically be living in the water, fishing, scuba, surfing. I figured it would be tough dealing with minoxidil under those conditions. I will just make sure to use it religiously before and after.

after being on it for 3 months i took 1 week's break and i lost alot i n that week
five days should be ok and i guess that because you ve been longer then 3 months on it that your even more safe
id still try to squeeze in 2-3 applications in that time and you proboably could

When you guys say you lose a lot or shed after going off of minoxidal for a while, do the losses ever reach a point that goes beyond what you started with before minoxidil, or only what you gained?

Thanks Roki, for informing me of your experience, I think maybe I should bring a can along and get it in before bed or something, hate to lose anything, its too hard to come by.

For God's sake, there's no need to have to guess the answers to any of these questions or go by a few personal anecdotes, just take a look at the results of quitting minoxidil that were found in an actual clinical setting in a trial performed by a well-known doctor:

Thank you Bryan for offering this information. The time lapse on your chart is based on 6 week intervals. I am sure that stopping for that period of time or a good portion thereof would certainly result in loss, but I was unsure if only a week would result in some type of setback such as a lite shed, so that is why I asked for the experience of members. It is difficult to find any study noting such a small time interval.

Well, interpolating from those 6-week intervals, it's obvious that a lapse of only a week shouldn't amount to much.

To be totally safe: max 10 days.

To start being in risk: 10 to 30 days. Depends on each body.

To be at real risk (90% of chances to start losing what you gained): 31 to 60 days.

And I'm talking by self experience.
