How long did it take you to notice your hairloss?

It took me a while to really notice it. Right when i started receding I noticed it like 3 months into it while I was combing my hair. At the time I said to myself "Hmm, my hairline starts a little further back, i never noticed that before" and then I continued combing my hair and thought nothing of it. Then about like 8-9 months later I was combing my hair and it hit me. "sh*t im losing my hair!" And I started freaking out.

Went through the denial stage, and tried to convince myself my hair was always like that. Then i went through the I wanna die stage and thought im gunna be a bald headed loser and im never gunna have another girlfriend. Then I went through the fear type reality stage thinking im gunna be bald before i get outta high school and if i get in a fight with some1 they are gunna call me a "bald headed motherfucker". Then I went through the hope stage and convinced myself I could get rogaine and make it all better. But luckly this horrible stage is over and im working on making it better. Hopefully I will be able to.

When did you notice your hairloss and how did you react?

Took me about 1 year to realise it was male pattern baldness, and probably another year before i began a serious treatment regimen...i would have stsrted using minoxidil earlier if it wasn't for all the BULLSHIT about it ONLY working on the crown area.....luckily i found that wasn't the case from browing this, and other forums....phew

i actually wasn't in denial, more the opposite, overreacting. i got a haircut this summer that sucked, it was just bad, so i basically cut it myself and got out of the shower a couple days later and i was trying to style my hair and then - what the hell? - there was just no hair where there had been before, and instantly i was like oh sh*t...and it wasn't my bad self-administered haircut.

there's no real history of it in my family either...anyways that was about 5 or 6 weeks ago, i've already been to an hair transplant dude (not to get one, but for the free consult) the derm, and i have an appt with an endo (cause i think i may have excessive testosterone) and i've ordered some of the weaker products, like the nizoral and infusium and the vitamins etc. so hopefully i can nip this crap in the bud before it gets bad =)

1-2months. I used to have demanding hairstyles becuase I liked having weird haircuts. One day in the shower I realized i was losing a lot or hair and thought it was weird. A month later it was hard for me to style. Two months later I realized I was balding. I was in denial for 3 more months and took action in the 5th month or so.

Yea know what you mean bomb. I wish I took action right away when I was a NW1.

And danthemanstewart, take the BIG 3 if you wanna stop your hairloss.

And what did the hair transplant doctor say and where are you on the norwood scale?

I was probably thinning for as many as 3-4 years before realizing or accepting it. My hair was always thin, and thats exactly what I'd tell myself when I thought it might be getting thinner. It wasn't until about a year and a half ago that I did accept that I really was losing it.

Still I figured it was slow enough that I'd have years to go before it was noticeable. Yet, early this year I realized it was all too painfully obvious, that under any bright light that my hair was all but transparent. I didnt think there was anythin I could do, but I was freakin out, so I researched, and by a stroke of luck found HairLossTalk.com.com.

I am sure I'd have a much thicker head of hair right now had I accepted it sooner. I think denial is our worst enemy, followed closely by ignorance.

i was 2 when i realized i was losing my hair. it was becoming noticible because of where i parted it. anyways, i'm 25 now.. i comb it forward..you can't tell i'm going bald.. but you can tell easily if i combed it back. i've lost a lot of hair,..but i still have enough to conceal it

I've actually been noticeably losing it since age 19 or so. I'm 31 now and still have mostly a "full head" of hair with a high hairline(I've always had a five-head)

I used to have really thick blonde hair and I've probably lost a good 50% of my top density. Luckily, my male pattern baldness progression has been very slow and even though I didnt start treating it until 9months ago, I've still got decent coverage.

I first noticed mine in the military. I was 19 and combing back my hair. I noticed my hairline wasnt as "solid" as it used to be. Didnt really do much until rogaine2% came out. Tried that but was too expensive. Then tried propecia for a couple months when it came out (too expensive in college)

Basically I did nothing since then until 9months ago when I started a overall fitness regimen and decided to do something about my hair as well. Results have been good. I've had an overall thickening of my hair and almost no shedding.

peace

he actually just said that my hair was settling into its mature hairline...which could maybe be the case, my mom's dad had somewhat of a u-shaped hairline from his early 20s until he was about 50, so it could be that but i don't really think so...anyways he just told me to come back in 6 months...he took some pictures and we're going to compare them.
