so I was cutting my Fincar up into 5 pieces, taking one a day. Everything was fine and dandy. Had a little less libido, but I would say my bits and pieces worked at about 90% what they used to.

Then, 7 days ago, for some reason I do not know, I took half a Fincar pill and I swear, my penis just stopped working. It wouldn't move. I had no sex drive. Lifeless and pathetic. I stopped taking it for 6 days. So it seems like little Anthony is coming back to life today, I had morning wood, which I never thought I would be so excited about in my life.

My question...6 days off of finasteride, should I go back on cutting it into 5 pieces? Should I wait a little more? Will I start shedding? Not sure how long it stays in the system.

What you describe seems to be a common scenario for guys that anecdotally report side effects from the drug across various websites. Your choice wether you want to continue or not, if you believe such things are "in your head".

If I were you and just experienced what you did, I wouldn't take it again -- but that's your personal choice. No need to take 5mg of Finasteride anyway (even if split 5x), when far less than 1mg has an effect.

The drug is very potent and has near flat dose response rate, so anything above 0.05mg basically drops DHT levels very low, very quickly:

Will I start shedding?

For me, moderate shedding did not even begin to take place until 8 months off the drug, and only after 14 months did it really pick up.

Not sure how long it stays in the system

finasteride has a 6-8 hr half-life but per the materials you can read here, 5AR2 can be inhibited for more than a week after just a single dose.

wow....Thanks a lot Mew for all of the info. I have a lot to consider. I think I will start to take 1/5 pill every other day from now on and see how it is. If I don't improve, I will stop the usage. like I said, before I stupidly took half a pill, I was fine and still had sex normally. But thanks again for the help I really appreciate it.

Agreed, this is something you should do regardless so they can be aware of any changes you may be experiencing from the medication.

IMO finasteride is very safe but I am always bothered by how people not only self medicate but self evaluate themselves.

so you want me to take pictures of my genitals and show you how i couldnt get a hardon or do you want me to show you my what my sperm looked like after i ejaculated? chunky hard drops of sperm..or do you want to see how i went from 200lbs to 187 lbs eating the identical food scheduel every day after stopping finasteride,dropping all the fat i had on my chest and stomach after i stopped that poison,or how i couldnt get up out of bed everyday,and walked around like a zombie..listen i posted on here many months ago(while i was on finasteride after 6-7 months)and told people that it was all in their head and their blaming finasteride for their lazyness and the erection issue was all in their head,i basically called them dumbasses until one day after 8-9 months it hit me and i realized i wasnt my old self anymore,the changes come on so slowly and gradually you dont even notice them and u think in ur head "this is how i was before" bulcrap the drug messed me up bad,,it took 3 months to get back to 100% and thank god for that,i apologized to everybody that i called a liar and the people that i told were crazy that said they were getting these wacky side effects,..its so funny how u trust the fda,,tell me how many drugs are off the market and getting sued for giving people serious side effects? and this is after the fda CLAIMED they were safe to take.you better wake the hell up cassin

just an update, i switched to 1 mg every other day and i am good as new. just hope the hair doesnt start falling out. but the sex has been good this past month so it is worth it! (yes, i say this now, but i know as soon as my hair starts to falls out, i will rather have limp dick...why do we do this to ourselves!)
