How long until your libido returned?

I've been on finasteride for 2 months now.

Month 1 was fine, semen was a little watery but other than that no sides.
Month 2 semen thickened up again, but my libido has dropped through the floor. Everything else is fine, no other sides.

Is this some I should ride out?
Did you experience something similar and if so how long until your libido returned.

I can't really go on like this, it's like I've forgotten what my lad is for other than emptying my bladder.

Your body will determine wether your libido comes back or not, either while on or after quitting the drug. If you want to chance things, keep on going. If not, get off.

I am in the same boat. Ive been on .5 mg of finasteride now for nearly a month. Watery sperm after about the first week. Still a little watery but getting thicker. Noticed a big drop in libido about 4 days ago or so. IDK if its in my head or what, but I think I am going to ride it out. Is it on your mind nonstop now? I am thinking that it is in my head and need a way to get my mind off of it. If you think of something or your libido picks back up please let me know.

Yeah, maybe that's making things worse.

I can still get it up no prob, I just don't feel like it .... at all.

Everything else is fine....

No, I don't take it anymore.. I meant the sides went away 7 days after quitting.

I took finasteride a few times, I was on it about a month twice. In both instances, my body returned to normal in 5 to 7 days.

That's what I'm thinking, I've been thinking about it for about 20 hours a day. Maybe I need to stop visiting this site for a few weeks and try to get back to a normal life.

My ejaculate is back to normal, I have no aches, etc. In fact I wouldn't even know I was taking anything if it wasn't for this low libido.

I've now reverted back to .15mg from .25 mg in the hope that this has a pcychological effect, as I was fine on this dosage for a month and I had a high libido then.

I'm off to the leeds festival for the weekend now, I'll report back after the weekend.

If you're on the drug, you will get low libido anyway, if it already ruined your sperm. Just quit it. There's no way you can feel normal, while 5AR2 isn't operating in your body. The enzyme is just too important for our health.

We all know that it's not. But most of us have already made the decision to take or only try finasteride, so the question is, how do WE get back being men.

Fanjeera, I am glad you have taken my post seriously. I haven't got an answer to this. I have temporarily stopped anything that directly messes with hormones, including Saw Palmetto, which has only a bland anti-androgenic activity.

I have started taking 1 g a day (and I could probably increase the dose) of blackcurrant oil, which contains gamma linolenic acid, which has a know hormone regulatory property. I'll keep you posted if that works for both hair loss and libido.

Bad idea, since GLA operates as a natural 5AR inhibitor.

Mew, thank you for the study. i am not really worried about that because GLA will then convert to prostaglandin type 1, which is used in treatment of erectyle disfunction.

It has also been proposed that Saw palmetto itself contains Gamma Linolenic Acid but I have found no confirmation about this.

I will try for two-three months and then I'll see but please post some other studies if you think necessary.

That's true, if you have it in your genes. You could flush yourself with minoxidil, though.

brandnew, I decided to drop back to my previous intake of ~0.15mg of finasteride per day. (I do this by crushing 12 finasteride tablets into vodka and taking ~0.6ml per day)
I also decided not to return to this site for a week in an effort to curb the thoughts.

Result, my libido has sort of returned. It's definietly no where near as bad as it was last week. Also, I took a bird home last night and I was incredably horny.

So, it looks like it's probably the plecebo effect for me.

I'm not quite where I used to be before finasteride when I wanted to knock about 3 out per day, but I am to the point where I have to knock one out every other day.

Maybe that's your issue too, try ignoring hairlosstalk.com for a few weeks, chances are you'll stop thinking about it 24/7 and your libido will return.

finasteride has been proven in a study to cause infertility. many men have what seems like permanent ED after taking this drug. is it really worth the risk? i started to feel the sides after a month of taking it, and i immediately dropped it once i found this site:
