How many of your friends/sibbling are balding?

After reading the 'You look older' thread, it got me thinking more about hairloss.

I came home for Christmas to meet up with some friends and one night we went out to catch up, and yes as pathetic as this sounds, I looked at all their hairlines. We are all 28! Born in 1982. Out of 11 People, 8 of them are all NW1s with no thinning, 2 (lucky me, and another guy who has blonde hair are Norwood 2.5s and thinning) and 1 has a baldspot at this crown but a Norwood 1.

How is it in your family? My Dad is balding but still has thickish hair on top, it's heavily receded but his hair at the front has no sign of diffuse unlike mine which is receding and diffuse thinning. Yet, my Brother who's 32 in July has a NW1 with perfectly fine hair. I'm 28 and in a worse position.

I think out of 11 people, for only 2 of us to be balding, surely that's quite a ehm, 'hairy bunch of friends' I have.
I'm not even counting the baldspot as you can hardly see his, it's about 1cm and he talks about it as if it's the end of the World.

I'm 24, born late '86

I just checked my FB friends...I only have 120 friends and I'd guess that maybe 70 or 75 are male...3 are maybe NW3v-NW4 and they're all 2-4 years older than me. 1 guy is maybe a NW4-5 and is 22. About 10 are circa Norwood 2.5 with varying levels of conceal-ability...Some might not really be balding but they all look to have lost a small amount of hair.

So 4 out of maybe 75, with an average age of maybe 25 or 26 have aggressive hair loss, and 10 with an average age of about 24 with mild hairloss...
Makes me feel slightly more normal after doing this...Also made me realize I'm the only one with a shaved/buzzed head!!
If I think of my 8 best friends though, only one of them is balding at all and is a NW2.5..

i am 27, sever diffuse thinning. my little brother is 22 and is starting to show his baldness. i told him a year ago that he was balding and bought him propecia, but he didnt like it and is now going to 'accept his baldness' (so he says now, let's wait and see when it gets real bad)

the thing that kills me though is my youngest brother, 19, is starting to show very slightly already. i really want to sit him down and talk to him, but it's depressing thinking about telling him at such a young age. i feel like it will take away whatever innocence he has left. it sucks.

but, i wish someone would have told me when i was 19-20 what to do...so i will soon.

I don't know. I don't pay attention. Well, I immediately assess the Norwood level, and then I forget and go back to thinking about my life.

All my brothers are bald but my dad looks like kenny rogers. None of my friends nor their friends friends are bald and that makes me feel quite alone. :sobbing:

Im 29 born in 1981 and apart from my 85 year old grandad I am the only one in my family thats balding. Ive got male cousins in their late 30s all NW1s. Ive got an uncle thats 60 and still NW1. My brother who is just 3 years younger than me has got a full head of hair with no thinning whatsoever and at his age i was already NW3 now im NW5. Ah well thats the card we've been dealt with and their is no point in dwealling over it. You have all gotta understand that its no big deal in losing your hair as there many balding guys who can still pull nice girls and still live life to the full. Its how you deal with it that matters and feeling sorry for yourself ain't gonna get you anywhere apart from getting yourself depressed even more. Take a look of my thread in the off topic forum entitled "if all this hair loss stuff is getting you down" and you will get what I am going on about :)

Quite a few of my old buddies are going the same way as me.. There was six or seven of us the other day and half are obviously losing hair. Not that I wish that upon anyone else, but it really helps. Karma side of it is, a couple of them were the worst at making fun of people losing their hair before. Let´s say it´s less of a topic these days..
Less of my other friends are losing it. A bunch of sickening thick nw1´s..
I have a couple of uncles in their early 60´s, and they´re thick nw1´s as well. Now that´s fubar!

It seems sometimes the guys quickest to crack a comment on hairloss are those who are concerned for themselves. Two of the worst ones I know have nw7 dads...

Got one friend who's balding (even worse than me), no one else. What's ironic is that me and him were very popular with the girls in elementary/junior high. He still is to some degree, but not because of his looks but because he's always been great with girls. I'm not, and never have been (especially now that I'm severely balding, that really knocked out the last bit of confidence I had).

got one mate with heavily receded temples and thats about it, work with several 305+ NW1ers

depressing company i keep to be honest! whenever hair comes up its always awkward for me.. not just hairloss, any mention of barbers or hair styles at all draws glances my way.

that bel grav ia hair center advert came on the tv while i was in the pub with a few guys and everybody went silent as it started, nightmare for me, id have been happier if thyed turned and said 'WHY DONT YOU GO FOR THAT YOU UGLY F**KER'. an awkward silence means they know ive a problem with it, them taking the p1ss would mean they didnt think i cared.

anyway lads im being shouted at to get off the laptop for being boring lol. have a good night tonight guys and let us know if any of you get lucky with totalled- off their heads hot girls.

That reminds me... my brother is bald, and so is my dad. How could I have forgotten the two main people in my life.

no sh!t. that awkward silence is worse than any comment. whenever an ad for a hairloss product comes on I try to come up with a comment mocking myself; nobody else does, and it pops the bubble. It´s not always easy as you´re put on the spot, but you come off looking less like you have a major issue, and your buds can laugh with you rather than choke it down.

I'm 24, but still none of my closest 5 friends have any recession or thinning at all!!!

This makes things difficult because although being a NW3 isn't that bad relatively speaking for my age, I've always been the only one with hairloss issues in my social circle and this can be difficult when the others are ripping on some bald dude while I'm just sitting their silently embarressed and angry.

Also my older brother (30) has a perfect hairline and this takes the piss too!

I know Israel's gene pool is pretty seperate, but I was in Turkey and Italy recently and noticed that baldness is far more common amongst young-ish men there than in either the UK or Ireland...or France actually...It'd be interesting to know where it's most common??

It would be interesting to know if premature balding (20's 30's) is getting worse then before? Once the bald gene has infiltrated a family, will it always be there?
If so, eventually all will go bald.

Thats why many people with no hair loss-genes mate with each other in order to save the human kind from masculine beauty extinction.

Thats why many women dont prefer baldies.

Dont take this serious guys. Im just trying to laugh at myself. And it works pretty well

im glad i got out of the hell hole, soo much emotional trauma, my life has been completely destroyed :sobbing:

My brother is 35 and he has amazing hair. That's one of the reasons why I'm so thankful for finasteride: comparisons between us both would be inevitable and I'd be known as 'the bald one'.

In my close circle of 5 friends, who are all 21/22, I am the only one balding. :shakehead:

My friends are at a loss as to why I continuously turn down all manner of invitations to go out with them. I've never really bothered explaining to them why as they simply wouldn't understand with their solid NW2's. I really do stick out like a sore thumb (for all the wrong reasons) in that group because of my hair loss.

As for siblings I have two brothers both older than me. One was hit with real aggressive hair loss and the other has no hairloss whatsoever. Go figure :dunno:

All my friends are thick NW1's with no signs of balding. Well one of them keeps a very close buzz because his hair is naturally so fine and white. I do know a couple of ppl that are my age and completely bald, though... like former class-mates and ppl I know. Only one of them is keeping it neat, but others are full-blown bozo the clowns which I can't understand.
