How Much Finasteride Should I Take?

Some people say "You're going bald dude!" and other say "Naah man your hair is fine". I'm planning on starting finasteride. Because of currency issues, buying propcea every month is a huge investment. So, I've heard that Proscar is doing the same thing, with less money. (And I'll be able to use one box for 4-5 months, right?)

One thing is my concern though... Mostly I eat junk food. Fried patatoes, burgers, pizza, chicken and drink 1 lt of Cola everyday. (Sometimes up to 2). I've heard that vitamin and iron deficiency can cause hair shedding.

It started when I was around 18. I used to play with my hair all the time, I don't remember having a strand on my hand. But when I started to grow it (to the longest point of it's ever been) the shedding started. I'll give you a couple of pics. And couple of questions. (By the way, my dad and my mom's brother have perfect hair and they're at their late 50's so I don't think it's genetic)

If it's vitamin/iron deficency, will DHT blockers (like finasteride) even help me?
Is my hair really that bad? Like, you know.... In a way that I'll go bald when I'm 50?
Some people take 1.25 mg, some take 1. How much should I start with?

(Ummm... Because I'm a new member the site's not allowing me to post any pictures or links. What can I do here?)

Thank you in advance guys!

1mg finasteride should stop your hair loss

IIRC finasteride has a flat curve drug response from like 0.25mg to 5mg, so it doesn't really matter. I started on 1mg right off the bat.

You can start saving money by eating better, dude. Fruits and vegetables are cheaper than pizza.

So even if I take 0.25mg it will effect the same? Then why do most people take 1 mg and make side effects even worse?

1mg inhibits around ~10% scalp DHT more over 0.25mg, but they inhibit almost the same percentage of serum DHT. If someone's going to get sides at 1mg, they will probably get sides at 0.25 too unless their sides were placebo. Doesn't make sense to lower the dose and expect the same results, but less chance of side effects.

i dont believe the .25 is the same as 1mg bullshit, personally i took .25 and noticed my hairline getting worst a couple months in. I then took a long break and tried dosing at 1mg a couple times a week and this has for the most part stopped my hairloss alot more effectively than .25 did. Anything over .5 i think works similar to 1mg.
