How much hair shedding is too much?

I've noticed that there are 10-15 hairs on my pillow every morning plus a lot of hair around my pillow area mounting to over 20 (probably.) Is this concerning? Note that my hair is fine and straight which propoenses 8t to falling out, at least according to my research. Also, a lot of the hairs have a white bulb on the end.

The preferable amount of shedding, would be the amount you were shedding before it suddenly became noticeable.

So Its not the amount you shed, its whether that amount has changed.

If you have never noticed how much your was hair shedding, and then there is a sudden increase where your hair is falling into your cornflakes at breakfast, it might be worth remembering if you have done anything differently recently that could be a cause.

I'm not sure since I've only been paying attention to it recently. My hairline has been receding at the temples but I've observed very little thinning which is what I would assume too much hair loss would produce.

Some times if alot of the hairs have a white bulb, it can be because something has triggered Telogen effluvium a few months prior. (like an illness, diet or medication etc)

otherwise if you have already noticed recession, it could just be your hair line maturing or the start of actual hairloss.

Cant really advise without pic's, but get it checked out if you are concerned.

Doesn’t matter as long as it’s being replaced, with male pattern baldness the anagen is too short and telogen is too long.

I know but I would like to keep it from getting worse considering I'm only 19
If u have baldness in your family then be proactive and take action Early. Get on finasteride and maybe oral minoxidill too. This way you Will never have to rely on applying stuff Topically for the rest of your life. Much more convinient.

No one in my family has gone bald but many lost hair on their sides but never thinning anywhere else. I might be getting that hairline I suppose

Get on medication, you are receding. BTW the white bulb is just the storage of nutrients and such, it means nothing.

Do you know anything about the see-through hair on the sides by my ears? The hair feels like straw there and splits weird, so I'm not sure if that's just how my hair is or an actual problem.

Dupa, or retrograde alopecia. But most of the time the hair on the sides and back will stay pretty stable. The problem is that DUPA/retrograde can correlate with baldness on the top.

Here's some better pics than the ones I had.
You look to have a section on the very front of your hairline, that looks like its weakening as we speak, that's the kind of hair that's often recoverable with treatments, where as without any treatment its also a good indicator of what hair will likely be disappearing completely next.

Would finasteride and minoxidil stop/revert retrograde alopecia or is it unaffected by medication?

The most important thing for you is to get on treatment to restore the miniaturization along the hairline.
