How often should I wash my hair when using minoxidil, 1x/day?

I don't use any other styling products so have no other residue on my scalp besides the residual minoxidil from the night before. The minoxidil formulation I'm using is PG free. Right now I'm washing once every 4 days, but would like to stretch it to 5. The reason I don't want to wash too often is because my hair is extremely damaged from overprocessing (back to back bleach sessions.) It is a fried, broken, brittle mess. The natural oils from your scalp are supposed to be better than any conditioner. I don't find that my hair looks or feels oily, at all really. The Spironolactone I'm on has almost completely stopped all oil production. When I do wash I use a ketoconazole containing OTC shampoo. Given all this, how often should I wash my hair?

IMO wash it every day. Stop bleaching it! No wonder it's fried and brittle.

Use a gentle shampoo with keto such as Regenpure DR or DS Labs Revita. Nizoral shampoo or suchlike is way too drying to use frequently.

minoxidil used to wreck my hair if I didn't wash it every day. I personally don't use it any more(that's beside the point). You're meant to use minoxidil on a clean scalp.

To soften and smooth the hair try the brand name Morrocan Oil, works a treat.

I wash it daily as suggested by derm. He asked: do you shower daily? Is your chest hair falling down because of soap? then hair won't fall because of shampoo.

If you use minoxidil, you should wait for four hours (time to absorb) before washing your hair.

I rinse it every day with warm water but shampoo only a few times a week. However, recently I noticed if I go more than 48 hours without shampooing, my scalp gets way too oily and my hair looks absolutely awful. There is a period where if I let it go without shampoo for about a week, it actually looks full again before becoming so disgusting and oily that I start getting sores. This used to be a much bigger problem when my hair was thicker and I'd grow it out. I never understood how people do "no poo" since their hair always looks disgusting and while there is a brief period where it looks great, ultimately it starts to stink and produce dandruff.

BUT if I shampoo too often my hair also looks like fried ****. Can't do it every day.

The key is to find a balance. For me, that is shampooing 2-3 times a week. Twice with something like Nizoral or T/gel and once with just baby shampoo. I don't use a leave in conditioner but I am thinking of it. The bottom line for most people is that you gotta wash your hair.
