1. Choose the right wig cap. Wig caps provide a barrier between your natural hair and the wig. Opt for wig caps made from breathable materials like nylon or mesh. A well-fitting cap can reduce friction and prevent your hair from becoming tangled or damaged under the wig.

2. Tension and the friction of your hair rubbing against your pillow are additional ways to contribute to shedding and tangling. It is always best to detangle your wig and remove it prior to sleeping if your wigs are wear and go glueless wigs, bang wigs, or v part wigs that can be removed every day. However, if you must sleep while wearing your wig, gently detangle the hair, braid (or twist) it up and wrap your locks in a silk scarf before retiring nightly. A silk scarf is highly suggested, but you may also use a satin pillowcase.

3. Keeping your wigs clean is crucial for the health of your hair and scalp. It may be tempting to skip out on wash day, but be sure to shampoo and condition your hair as you would normally to remove dirt, and bacteria off the hair and scalp.
