I absolutely CAN NOT shave my hair for a hair transplant.

I've read some surgeons are ok with just shaving part of it. I was thinking I could get a hitler youth haircut before surgery - shaved back and sides with longer on the top. Then they can just shave a bit into the hairline to make the transplant whilst pinning the remaining hair back. Then post-op I'll just do a comb-forward to conceal redness and scarring.

Don't screw with the doctors routine...they say it needs to be shaved so why are you going to mess with a $10K operation???
