5% minoxidil 2x a day. No side effects. Saw regrowth in 2 months in an area that was slick bald for over 3 years. Must be a responder. But I quit because I just don't like putting that greasy stuff on my head twice a day.

Yes, there is foam, but I'm too cheap to pay the $30.

Right now I dilute 5% minoxidil to 3% with everclear, add some of Lee's Retin-A, and apply once a day an hour before I shampoo. That way that gue is only in my hair for 1 hour. I'll let you know if I see any more fuzz in the place I saw it the last two periods I used the stuff.

Well, I've started liquid minoxidil again. I'm doing once a day, sometimes twice, with retin-A in it, relatively soon before a shower. I get maybe 30 minutes to 2 hours. Sometimes if I got nothing on, it will sit in my hair the full 4 hours. But I don't mind the mess as much now because I just tell myself I'll shower it off before I see my girlfriend. Something is better than nothing.

Too cheap to pay $30 for foam, but not several thousand for a transplant? You can 3m supply for like 50$.

I can get 3 bottles of 5% for $20, tax included. The reason I'm not willing to spend as much on topicals as some people are is I'm not a diffuse thinner. I'm a well defined receder. I have slick bald areas in front of dense hair, and the slick bald areas were slick for years. And I have grafts on top of that, which may have killed any chance I have of regrowth. I did get 3/4 inch peach fuzz in my hair line, but that was grafted over, and now I don't see any there, though I have not been on minoxidil either.

If I were 20 years old, and just lost the first inch of my hair line within a few years, and did not have any grafts, I'd most definitely be buying foam and paying for other stuff. I just don't want to spend all my spending money on something that might not regrow anything. And minoxidil does not slow down hair loss, so I can't justify it for long term hair savings like I can spironolactone or nizoral.

CCS,

Are you saying your girlfriend does not know you put stuff on your head?

she knows I take "propecia", and I mentioned I use dermmatch. But the dermmatch looks so good I doubt she knows I have it on. She may have forgot about it, and I'm not going to remind her. I did not tell her I put other stuff in my hair.

She's on a girls night out tonight. So I put minoxidil in my hair and am leaving it there for a while.

Topicals no longer bother me. I just don't want them in my hair when I'm out and about with women.

I personally think Rogaine foam smells bad, so I don't use it much when I go out. I'll normally use it when I get back home, or if it's on the weekend, I'll do a midday dose.
