Hi guys!
I just joined this forum..
My name is Reece I live in Brisbane, Australia.
I first started noticing my hair receding literally when I was about 19, but I really didn't think anything of it because I asked my hairdresser and I thought a woman who has been in the hair industry for 30 years would know what she was talking about, and she said oh you just have a high hairline.. I drove home really happy because I thought oh it's not me going bald it's just that I have a high hairline. Well, my hair at the front started to get thinner and thinner and thinner..and I had psoriasis forming on my hairline, so I went to the chemist and bought stuff with salycic acid in it and I thought that was the reason for my hair thinning at the front.
Once again I went to my hairdresser because my hair was so thin and so uneven and once again I asked her if I was going bald, and I told her about the psoriasis product and said "Do you think thats why my hair has gotten so thin in the front" and she said "yes, stop using that product" so I stopped using it. Anyway my hairline had REALLY receded and it was legit a V in the front. I thought to myself right, I'm going to google all of this, and I saw photos of first stages of male pattern baldness and my hairline totally looked exactly like those photos.
I was so scared, on the virge of tears because I was only 21 years old and I am a vein person. Like REALLY vain.
I did all the research on how to get my hair back, all the products etc etc. I went to my GP later that week and got a prescription that was "Propecia". I was so over the moon because of all the research I had done they said that propecia was a big help and I had the drugs in my hand. A few months later I really didn't notice anything. As a matter of fact I could swear it was just getting worse.
I was only taking propecia no other tools to help prevent hairloss.
I saw an ad for "Ashley and Martin" that said they had a 104% success rate or something like that.
The next day I rang them smack bang at 9AM and booked an appointment with them.
I swore to myself I wasn't going to sign anything until I had gone home and thought about it, anyway needless to say I went into the appointment pretty embarrassed, because it was a subject I was very sensitive about and really didn't want to admit I had those three horrible words. Male Pattern Baldness.
I was so impressed with the sales bloke, he was showing me photos of clients that have a full head of hair, and since I was 21 I got the student discount which was $3, 500. I was so desperate and so scared of losing my hair at the ripe old age of 21, I signed away for 1 year on the Ashley and Martin program.
It has been nearly 1 year and my hair line at the front has grown back a considerable amount that I no longer feel insecure, or self conscious. I honestly felt like crying today because it was the first time that I had seen a BIG difference in along time. My daily routine IS -
1mg Finasteride
Saw palmetto pill full stength (a herbal supplement that stops DHT forming in the body)
I wash my hair with Nizoral every couple of days and leave it in for about 5 minutes. Then I rinse out and repeat.
Before I go to bed I apply 7% Minoxidil to the receding hairline bit.
Guys, this is my success story. I am SO happy that not only has it stopped the balding, but it has actually GROWN my hair back on my hairline. I am so happy with the results.
I won't be continuing my relationship with Ashley and Martin.
I get my finasteride pills from my GP, I buy the minoxidil 5% from Chemist Warehouse aswell as my Saw Palmetto Pills, and the Nizoral shampoo 2% I buy from the chemist.
I wanted to share my story with you guys because I was once that frightened person that was scared shitless of losing my hair at such a young age.
My advice would be to you guys is to be patient. It doesn't grow back overnight and it takes along time for these medications to see a difference in your hair. Keep at it!
I hope I have helped someone out there like me over 1 year ago.
