I Have Given Up Wearing A System...here's My Reason

So as someone who has been suffering with hair loss for nearly 5 years, I thought I'd share my story to others to see if helps/relate to anyone.

In November 2018, I decided to get my first system from a London franchise. It was horrible, £700 for a piece of rubbish which was too thick and by a school leaver stylist. I was so upset by it, I found another supplier via here and Instagram. Great service, great hair, looked amazing. I was finally happy.

Now I have worn the system for 4 months after getting it cut in, I take it off every 9-10 days, clean it, clean my head and re-attach. I was close to ordering another system as mine was coming to the end of its life and wanted to keep it fresh, however I have now decided I longer want to spend 90 mins every 10 days cleaning and worrying daily if people can tell or see anything that looks odd and worry about wind showing any bit of lace etc - it may be just me, but I was always worrying about it. Don't get me wrong, it looked great and no one could tell....it was just me worrying everyday, how I sleep with it, how I shower etc. I have decided on the weekend to take it off and shave my head - a new look and something to get used too, but I feel free from the routine now. I have some stubble all round so looks like a shaved head look and good thing for me is I have a round head so suits it. I don't regret wearing a system and may even decide to go back one day, but for now will enjoy not worrying about it daily. If anyone wants to know a good company for systems then I can recommend on here, I got tips from users here on them and I have been very happy with them.

Congrats, I think you're one of the lucky ones who can accept the situation and move on with new found freedom.

In many ways I wish I had just accepted my hairloss rather than used fibres and concealers for so long. Having done that, I mentally felt that I had no other choice but to get a hair piece (transplant wouldn't have worked well for me).

As for good companies for systems - please do share here, as it's always helpful to know from real experience who the good ones are.

Thanks @deg_dilemma Don't get me wrong, I loved my hair system, and it looked good. Just didn't have the will power to continue worrying and thinking about it all the time as I did. I tried to just forget its there, but no luck. I'm still getting used to the shaved head look, but got complements already which always helps, but overall, I am happy so far. I will PM you the supplier I used.

Sounds like we started our systems at the same time. If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t do it. People are really surprised to hear me say this. Like you, mine looks good. I’ve been very honest with people, and everyone has been really fascinated by the entire process . All I ask is if at anytime something doesn’t look authentic, let me know. Only once has some said anything, and the fact that the man who trimmed m beard last week didn’t even notice reinforces the fact that it looks good. Im Having fun with the different styles etc.
but this fun comes at a price. Time, money, self awareness of how it looks all the time....

When you did make the decision to take it off for good, how did people around you react. I’m assuming you went from no hair, to hair, back to no hair. And I. Sure you got comments like , ‘I can’t even remember what you looked like before’

I have been doing it for about a year. I did have a couple of low points, but now I love it... really enjoying it, and the hair is fun. I guess it depends on your viewpoint...

You really didn't say why you are going to stop?

So I had hair before my system, albeit thinner using fibre to cover the patches so no one knew. Then went to a bad system which people commented whats happened before quickly changing to a good system which everyone just said nice haircut. Now im grade 1 all over. I told people i got fed up of bed hair and wanted easy in the morning. Some comments since about looking like a prison guard but i am fine with it. Only reason i stopped with the system was due to time to maintain which i wasnt willing to do now and also self awareness when out, wind, upclose etc. Just didnt want that on my mind anymore. I dont regret it, i i tried it, loved it, but now going a different way. Of course costs come into it, and with a new arrival in the household, every penny counts too

Congrats on fatherhood man! I would like to do that one of these days. That's one of the reasons why I'm keeping the hair on LOL.

I djust not see me stopping anytime soon, but If I could go back and make the decision again, knowing what I know, I wouldn’t do it.

For all the reasons the OP stated, and then some. There always seems to be something that is causing heartache. Today , as I stated n a separate post, I’m doubting the quality of this newest hair compared to my others. It’s just doesn’t feel or act the same. And I’m certain not a single person has noticed but me!

I’m trying to live by Noah’s golden rule, “Wear the heir, don’t let the hair wear you”!
