You need to jump on a treatment or it will just get worse. You should respond pretty well at your age.

I know it is hard, do the most possible at the moment to find a "place" where you are comfortable with your life, treating it like a lesson, not like a curse. You are still very young take advantage of that.

If you are losing hair at that age, you are seriously doing something wrong...or not doing something. What are your eating and drinking habits? How much stress are you taking? Judging by the emotion in your post, a lot. Are you using any products on your skin or hair? Taking any medication?

In the end, everyone will lose some hair. As someone said, it's a life lesson and how you deal with it. It could be worse, you could have died with cancer or been one of the poverty struck kids in the developing world but you weren't :)

Hey bud I'd love to see some pictures of your hair bud!
At 21 there is something you can do about your hair loss, believe me.
I believe there are products on the market that can garuntee absolute maintenance of your hair and even regrowth for a life time, if you have the time/dedication and money. You have to be commited .

I have the hairline of atleast a NW3 and Norwood 6/7 pattern can be seen from top. I'm a diffuse thinner and sides and have also lost their density. Yes, I'm trying my best to stop further hair loss but it seems that the odds are not in my favor. I've been on finasteride since last June and I think I was responding ok but in the last few months I've developed a serious case of Seborrhiec Dermatitis with severe scalp pain and swelling and I think finasteride has caused this. I tried Nizoral and H&S but they didn't work. I haven't taken finasteride since last week and seborrhiec dermatitis seems to be improving. I'm also using Minoxidil.

Sorry to hear about your discouraging experience with finasteride. I have severe episodes with seb. derm. I've never heard that finasteride. can be responsible for seb. derm.,so your perspective is particularly interesting to me and worth further research. Maybe you might consider a lower dose of it? Thanx for sharing.

with every single wash seb. dermatitis is improving. I don't think that finasteride 'caused' my SD, it was already there and well under control, finasteride just seems to make it worse.

You signed up in September, 2013 just to post a lame forum-jock response 8 months later?

No. I just think that when I read one too many posts from members here, whining about their hair loss, they should try getting accused of being a paedophile all their lives just because they had a horseshoe at 23 or something like that; until then, they can't truly know what suffering from male pattern baldness actually is.

Oh please, you're making it sound like societies denigration of men with hair loss only applies to certain men. It applies to ALL of us, you know very well that all of us are basically prematurely rejected from society because of this condition.

I will agree that some of us have it worse than others and for whatever reason theyre more prone to public humiliation, but that should not downplay the issues of others.

I can't say it applies to all. I do think it is more (if not only) certain men who are much more denigrated. Taking steps to address their looks might help (I mean, other people really are THAT shallow), and I think things such as confidence are just as crucial too. I myself have been NW7 for years since 23, and was once pretty much rejected from society, but recently have been amazed how much things changed just because I shaved my head. I experience no public humiliation at all, though I used to.

Finasteride has no effect on sebum production.

All those pains that I was going through were due to Lichen Planus of the scalp.
