Wasnt there a restriction, under the Bush administration, when it came to experimenting with stem cells? Now that Bush is out of office do you think we could possibly see HM, or some other version of HM, come out even sooner?

(I'm not exactly sure what the law restricted so it might be completely irrelevant when talking about HM)

any opinions or anyone care to enlighten me?

He stricted government funding to researchers using embryonic stem cells. It wasn't banned, research didn't stop, and in fact it was learned that embryos aren't the best source of stem cells.

I thought there was also a restriction on using any new stemcells. Scientist only had access to frozen stemcells that they harvested before the law was put into place. Does this sound right to anybody?

You are correct, Obama overturned the 8 year funding ban.

Obama's order ends former President George W. Bush's limit on federally funded embryonic stem-cell research to cell lines created before Aug. 9, 2001.
